I’ve been really struggling to enjoy OW2 since returning after a year+ away from gaming (new country). The one enjoyable piece of the game I’ve found is Open Queue, yet I am forced to play Role Queue to unlock the new characters.
I refuse to go through 35+ games in Role Queue.
If you were given the deal: “if you go through hours of insufferable boredom/frustration you’ll get a prize you might not even like”, would you take it? Because that’s how the character unlocks feel if I’m forced to play Role Queue.
Please open up the new character unlocks via Open Queue too or I’m unlikely to ever unlock them.

You could, instead, spend real money which is what the entire system is designed for.
In all seriousness, I am sorry that this community supports anti-consumer practices because they are more interested in speedrunning the death of this game than it’s longterm success.

That, and make the new heroes in the Battle Pass something like LEVEL 20 and not LEVEL 45. Y’know, over halfway through the first “tier”.

It’s great to see I’m not the only one frustrated!
They made this mistake of making role queue players play Arcade and vice versa – I don’t play open queue anymore, but I hope they can make it rewarding for those who do so.
If those children could read, they would be very upset right now!

I have been unlocking all characters through unranked open queue though. Are you sure you have been tracking your unlock progresses?

They ruined Open Queue so i have no idea.
But I can safely say that new heroes are officially working against my enjoyment of OW.
Open queue is not that bad for unranked, you encounter all kinds of old heroes and you can use tank as DPS too. It gets slow when you encounter people using healer as DPS though, the damage is pitiful and everyone is dying left and right. Competitive is another story though, better play role queue for that. But I’m pretty sure all 4 modes progress heroes unlocks so just keep jumping around to keep things fresh.
I believe you do actually. It’s just that the “role” stat is only counted towards the role or hero you spent majority of the match with.

then the changed it and its kinda just bad now… ranked is bad… havent tried open queue ranked in monthes…

You mean to tell me a random person who’s part of the silent majority has made a post about RQ and how it sucks to play through. 
I don’t mean to preach that I am always right but… time for restrictions to go.
