The only way to make this game better.
unlimited avoid teammate list. That way you can play with only the people you want to play with and you can avoid the people you don’t want to play with.
imagine overwatch but having every toxic person banned from your team forever
imagine overwatch but having every thrower banned from your team forever
imagine overwatch but having every teammate with good communication, teamwork and objective play…forever
Although at this point we have a better chance at winning the lottery than blizzard actually trying this

Limiting it helps avoid systematic abuse or weird cases like avoiding everybody you meet frivolously. I think the expanded count is plenty for the job of not seeing them again until a lot of time has passed.

I don’t think it should be unlimited. But I also don’t think it should just be two slots. I’d say five is a good number.

Honestly I think it should be unlimited, but it should only last for 24 hours.
Like, in most cases you don’t really need to dodge someone for a week. You just need to dodge them while they’re tilted.
You can still allow people to avoid 2 teammates for a week by clicking on people you are currently dodging and say “extend,” so that streamers and such can avoid the people that like to deliberately ruin their games.

unlimited for 24 hours seems like a good compromise
i dont think blizzard should be dictating who you play with though, we really should have control over who are our teammates are

You do have control of that though. You can group with people on your friends list and with people you just played with and now very soon there will be a LFG system so you’ll have even more control on who is on your team. If you don’t want a bunch of random people in your team then don’t solo queue or wait for the LFG system to come out.

Dunno, even if it was only 24 hour… People would avoid others simply because they lost and stuff.
“Oh I kept overextending and taking 1v3 situations but it was our healers fault, I’ll avoid them” >>> Every fifth person does this and good luck ever getting into a game.
But 99% of the things people do in this game are because they lost and stuff…
Yeah let people avoid anyone who outplayed them, that will work out just fine…
Extends que times for said players who necessarily didn’t do anything wrong as people get touchy and need to blame someone for the loss.
Makes me wonder what would happen if you got avoided by every overwatch player…
You wouldnt do that though, avoid teammate would be those awesome players would never be on your team
Why would you 6 stack in qm though? all im saying is you should be able to jump into a game. solo or not… without having to deal with certain people, nothing wrong with having that option. right now we do…but its limited to 2 people
If you got avoided by everyone there is probably a good reason for it

As far i remember reasoning for not making “avoid” unlimited is that people used it to not avoid bad players, but the opposite - everyone avoided top widowmaker to not play against him in matches so in the end he found it too long finding matches.

When there was an avoid player option the best Widow player in the world couldn’t get into any games because everyone had avoided them because they were TOO good.
It’s why they took the feature away in the first place
“One of the best Widowmaker players in the world complained to us about long queue times,” said Kaplan. “We looked into it and found that hundreds of other players had avoided him (he’s a nice guy – they avoided him because they did not want to play against him, not because of misbehavior).
“The end result was that it took him an extremely long time to find a match. The worst part was, by the time he finally got a match, he had been waiting so long that the system had “opened up” to lower skill players. Now one of the best Widowmaker players was facing off against players at a lower skill level. As a result, we’ve disabled the Avoid system (the UI will go away in an upcoming patch). The system was designed with the best intent. But the results were pretty disastrous.”
inb4 waiting 4 hours to find a game in plat
I doubt we’ll get more avoid teammate slots until the community stops false reporting and avoiding people who main off-meta heroes.
The active player base is not on a good spot right now, giving players the ability to avoid 5 in their skill rank will already make an impact on times and people you meet, imagine 10 or even more.
Even in the ranks with supposedly the most people you end up seeing the same 15ish people rotate between games over and over.
i guess the smart thing to do would be to bring back unlimited prefer player, but when was the last time anyone did the smart thing
It’d increase your chances of having a team full of one-tricks, since their previous teams would have ‘avoided’ them. Too many potential abuse opportunities.
But I agree there needs to be more than 2 slots. They really assumed that we’d have a problem w/ teaming up with just TWO people total??? I encountered more griefers/people I didn’t want to play with within my first few DAYS of almost ANY online FPS or MMO.
The most useful implementation of it would be to allow the list to be an unlimited size but only ever match N when matchmaking. If you have 50 in the list and 7 are in the matchmaking pool, it would still only use 2. It doesn’t make sense to have your 2 slots taken up by people who aren’t even online at the moment, and then to have people who you really want to ignore come up in the next game, and you have to remove someone - only to have that person you removed be online the next morning.
Just make it an unlimited sized list and limit how many players the matchmaker will avoid and honor at a time.
