Uninstalled the game for a week life is indefinitely better

Finally won over my long addiction of playing this game since beta.
I played OW1 till it’s last moment. In the end of OW1 cycle, queue time can take up to 15" for just QP but I kept playing it because it was still fun. I needed my dose of OW everyday.

But the current state of OW2 is just sad. I feel only frustrated playing it. Its a game of rolling or getting rolled. I think this is mostly due to nature of the game and the dev adjustments to MM for quicker queue time. I get it, it looks bad for a fairly new game to have long queue time but this is just plain unplayable for some, the ever shrinking player base and the trend of leavers prove that. Hell, I even became a leaver myself from a never quitter. Some matches are just impossible to play, you cant even leave spawn. What else to do but leave that match and stop wasting time?

But Im glad I quit it though so I don’t have to endure daily doses of frustrations. I do hope the game gets better so Ill be sticking around in these forums. After all, I did love OW and been a loyal player since beta.

I’m just hoping for the long awaited PvE to be good at the very least.

I played the game pretty much every day for the first 2 and 1/2 seasons. The experience was frustrating and generally unrewarding during Season 3. I quit the game midway through the season and played a few other games. Picked up Apex Legends to fill my FPS needs. I came back about 2 weeks into Season 4 and was hit with the brutal reality of how mid OW2 feels when you’re not enmeshed in a “I really want to like this game” mindset. It’s not that OW2 is terrible, it’s just the definition of mediocre. Similarly, I’ll keep coming back now and again because of a weird loyalty to the game. Unless the PvE releases and really knocks it out of the park, I doubt I’ll ever return to playing the game regularly.

Some deranged people will attack you over this

I’m happy for you, we all need to move away from things that make us miserable. Especially when it comes to our hobbies and limited free time.

I’m sorry the game hasn’t been treating you well though. It’s really sad watching people who used to love the game leaving it because it has become a grind for them.

Will you be rejoining us when PVE comes along or is OW done and dusted for you?

I wont blame them though since Im used to be a never quitter. But I guess enduring frustration long enough will do this to you.

At the end of the day we were supposed to be playing a GAME. If it wasn’t fun anymore then why bother? The devs seemed to have forgotten that detail.

I still love the game ideas and think its very unique in its way. I surely hope there will be new updates and things will change and Ill be enjoying the game again

That was the part which got me. I have never left a ranked game on purpose before but yesterday I felt soo frustrated because of a smurf pharah + mercy comp that I decided that this game does not worth my time anymore.
I will come back when the matchmaking is fixed but till that I will play with games in which I can play against players at my level instead of either getting stompped or stomping on lower rank players.

The sad part is for every long time player leaving a group of new F2P players are replacing them. It’s the same with the cash shop still being overpriced and the reason for why matchmaking is so terrible now these days.

Hey, I did the same, I used to play it sooo often and then… cold turkey stopped with OW2. Didn’t touch it at all for months, now I play it a few hours every so often when I want to hang and chat a bit with friends who still play. It freed up so much of my time to play other games or do other things, so in that way it was for the best things turned out the way they did. Still miss playing with the group I used to play comp with, but such is life.

If you want a recommendation for Steam games my latest “find” is the game Crab Champion - it’s cheap fun, especially if you play with friends. If you prefer single player my standing recommendation will always be Dragon Age and/or Mass Effect.

So basically you have no self control and had to resort to fully removing the game in order to healthily remove yourself from the game?

That’s unlikely to be sustainable, as I doubt OW2 has a moderate new player retention. While they may be profiting more than before due to the new monetization system, the active player base is likely to continue shrinking until it reaches a plateau.

It’s possible that they’re prioritizing short-term gains over long-term gains, but perhaps they plan to milk Overwatch for all it’s worth in the coming years and then launch a new FPS in the future.

It sucks for players because they would want OW to thrive. And some devs may share this passion, but unfortunately they can’t do much against the vision of the higher-ups at ABK.

Im fine thanks. Have a lot of other things to do. Just want to completely remove OW from my day. Im at the point of absolutely sure I dont want to play it anymore so I removed it not because I cant retain myself from playing it.

I’m calling it. This is one of those dweebs who calls himself a “sigma male,” but, like, unironically.

Regardless of that, I have to admit that it’s pretty funny to read “I uninstalled this VIDEO GAME that isn’t fun any more and moved on of my own volition,” as a definite sign that someone needs PROFESSIONAL INTERVENTION.

Salt, I am cheering you on. Keep doing right by yourself… While you’re at it, though, could you throw me a life raft? I’ve been treading water here since launch.
