Yeah, this is all the Mercy 2.0 argument all over again. Drop Rein’s numbers a bit. Increase Orisa’s. Pretty soon we’ll have everyone saying why Orisa is obviously the game’s only viable main tank and why Rein’s mechanics are fundamentally flawed and he should only be niche.
Rein is the only non-situational tank because he’s way too good. Also, because he goes with Zarya who is even more overpowered than he is. That’s all it comes down to.
May i know which rank you play in? I haven’t seen anyone complaining that among all things, rein is op if they’re in higher ranks.
Fun fact: orisa has a stationary shield which is easy to get around. But let me guess no one knows that those shields have limited hp.

And I used to play Orisa. The problem with her isn’t her base mechanics. The disadvantages with the shield can be played around with shield dancing, and the gun is a big advantage. The problem with Orisa is that her kit sucks and her ult is horrible, the worst in the game. And Rein has an amazing kit and one of the top ults in the game.
It’s not worst in the game. That’d be mccree’s ult.
There’s a reason orisa isn’t viabkein every comp. She was made to enanle bunker/builder comps. Rein has to get closer.
If rein is too good, try to play him in watchpoint if enemy is running full dive+snipers.
Here’s another secret, Orisa is my first played hero in the game. Have over 100 hours and the highest winrate among my heroes. However, that doesn’t mean devs have to nerf rein to make orisa more viable. Most of the tanks are in balanced state. If anything,I’d revert Zarya’s changes to charge drop rate + ult radius.
The thing is, Rein is viable in a whole lot of mixed and generic comps besides classic deathball. Orisa is not, and I think being generally underpowered is the reason. That terrible ult is such a problem, it’s so easy to counter that it almost doesn’t exist. But also, Halt is so inconsistent and easy to defeat that it might as well not exist, and Fortify would be fine if it wasn’t an excuse to give her the worst HP of any main tank in the game.
That might help although I think her ult is balanced now. So I’d just revert the first part of that. We need to remove all of the cheap teamkill ults from the game, and Grav used to be one of those (still is a little bit but at least now you have to work for it).
Zarya’s ult feels cheap to you because your off supports have 0 gamesense. Unless you feed zarya, it takes forever to build a grav ( sometimes 1.5 gravs/round if a zarya isn’t doing good.
To be honest I’ve never had a lot of trouble with grav, I am mostly going by reputation. The ults I really despise are Earthshatter and Dragonblade. Also EMP, but Sombra is so weak outside of that I don’t think you could really nerf it.
Orisa could use a buff, even minor one. Just because the current meta involves 3 tanks doesn’t mean they should be nerfed. Things need to be buffed that counter the tanks. Most tanks are in Okay spots at the moment.
But… this game is about switching to what the team needs because is a team game …
Yeah but the problem is that what the team needs is Rein. Every single game.
This is a huge problem if you don’t like playing Rein or you like playing the heroes that Rein competes with.

The fact that the purest tank deals more damage than the glass canon support should raise some eyebrows tbh.
Did you know, in GM, Zarya does more damage than any DPS except Bastion and Torbjorn?
Tanks really have become DPS but better.
I know, tanks have rendered almost all the dps useless in all but the most niche situations. This isn’t even about protecting their team anymore. Tank are straight up fragging out at the moment.
Bringing a hammer into a gunfight is no longer a novelty.
It has become the standard 
Genji/Tracer are fine as long as you’re decent at playing widow/ana/zen/mcree/roadhog/mei/winston/pharah. Even as soldier I can usually fight/pick them off.
Hanzo is rough though.
