Uninstalled after 3K hours and 6 years

I know the horse has been beaten to a pulp at this point, but games are decided way too much by tanks now. It’s just too frustrating when your tank picks the wrong one and the other team picks the right one for the map/situation. It feels like trying to swim through mud. I guess there’s nothing that can be done about it at this point other than just a revolving door of tank balance. You just can’t make up for a wrong tank pick as a dps. It’s just not fun. Also, Sigma is still miserable to play against and should’ve been reworked years ago. He just does too many things well. You can’t 1v1 him and you can’t counter him. Playing against him a lot recently is probably why I’m burned out. Sorry, hopefully the devs read posts like this.

there’s a reason CoD remains 6v6

Which is of no relevance here.

The issue is not that the match is being decided by tanks, but that your experience is heavily influenced by those around you.

I blame 5v5 for that, which is a very bad, and slightly confusing change.

It should have never been done. Never.

That’s how OW has always been designed. Tanks play the most carry heavy role in the game but even then, you can’t carry as a Tank if your supports or DPS are doing poorly.

Games are literally determined by who has the weakest link (in any role).

Yes, I’m just pointing out that to some people, that is the point of contention. I agree with you 100%

ah yes because we have tanks, healers and dps in cod and its not just 6 guys with sniper rifles and riot shields

Felt this. It’s the same thing with brig. Some heroes just ruin this game for me if I play against them too much.

They introduced 5v5 without realizing tanks could counter each other. The burden of having to be the only one performing a role is tough and you are always the scape goat. 6v6 tank synergy and needing a main tank and two tanks that go well together was really a pain. I don’t even know what the answer is to not make tanking feel like a chore.

Also just gonna mention sigma and brig caused the worst metas in the game and are bad hero designs. Sigma was so bad that the entire game had to change to suit him.

Overwatch is easy to reinstall  !

That being said, I feel like there’s a current wave of people leaving Overwatch despite numbers being boosted a bit on Twitch thanks to Season 4 and the new hero.

Maybe it’s just EU servers that feel empty but I’ve reached a new height in terms of meeting the same players over and over again in less than a 2-hour Overwatch session. It’s concerning. It feels like F2P Overwatch is not doing so well in terms of population in EU…

I also happen to have longer queues (maybe due to bugs at the beginning of last week), especially in Arcade.

I have no idea how Sigma escaped a rework after all these years. The guy is so unfun to play as and against. One of the most uncreative kits in the game, too.

I think if they removed the pay to win aspects of the game, they’d retain a lot more players

but thats certainly not the only problem driving folks away right now

What does CoD have to do with Overwatch LOL

In this case? Not making the same mistake that Overwatch did.

It’s more that it’s pretty common for one tank to be low GM and another tank to be an OWL player. Which is like matching a silver against a masters. It’s just not fun to have every other game have a massive tank diff.

Nothing to do with the gameplay itself, just skill disparities in the same lobby

They should’ve realized the reason synergies worked was because solo tanks have flaws that can be countered more easily. And…that’s the direction they took the game, fun.

Not to mention that the synergies also helped support certain other role characters as well.

Everything fell apart and needs rebalancing to work.

I’m sorry but tank is not the carry role.

Support is the carry role.

And you can certainly carry as DPS more than you can carry as tank.

If there is a Tracer destroying your backline by herself or a widow getting two picks every fight before it even starts, there isn’t much you can do as a tank.

Perhaps this changes at different ranks but at least in higher ranks, I believe it’s like this:

  • Supports that control their own tank, control enemy DPS to some degree and get kills will win the game most of the time
  • DPS that can get first pick or use all their enemy resources as a flanker is likely to win although supports can prevent the latter
  • Tanks can stop their team from winning most easily but have a harder time carrying as their are most reliant on their team being with them

Are you really trying to argue against 5v5 by comparing OW to CoD, which is a completely different genre of game…?

They always do that. They don’t want to stay, but they don’t want to leave either.
Weird people.
