So it’s rather well known that Sigma’s Accretion Ability seems…inconsistent right now as it can’t be eaten, deflect, etc.
The ground rules for the ability are a bit confusing, but I think what we’re seeing is technically a new sort of ‘projectile’, or rather, Object that acts as a physical object coming towards you, not dissimilar to a Doomfist using Rocket Punch
If Accretion remains this way, it’s likely we’ll see a new class of Projectiles added in this vein

I would classify Accretion as an “Object”.
Projectiles are tiny.

Fair enough I suppose haha
I’m cool with this.
But I don’t think you can equate it to dooms punch.
I’d equate dooms punch to Reins charge.
Both obviously can’t be DM’d bc they’re attached to enemy heroes’ bodies.
Both can’t be deflected because you can’t deflect people hurling their bodies at you. It just doesn’t seem rational.
The most similar things I can think of to accretion would be, fire strike, or torbs load which are both eatable/deflectable.
But still… I’m cool with it…
It’s just non consistent. And there’s no justifying it…

I’m okay with Accretion, because it’s still a highly telegraphed, easily dodged ability.

I wanted to added a new type of thing like this in order to balance against goats.
my thoughts were along the lines of things like dynamite, bio nade, molten lava etc are techically not projectiles and shpuldnt really be eaten by dva matrix.
this would allow way more counterplay and add way more interesting interactions with dva as well opening up the door to new similar possibilities.

It isn’t new, it operates under similar properties to Hook and Whip Shot. The major difference is that it actually blocks damage, though I don’t think it can be destroyed. I believe it can only block damage while being cast, and not while flying in the air, though I’m unable to test that.
I like the classification of “object”.

I think the difference is technically Dvas matrix can’t destroy it before it hits her, cuz its a giant rock, though I did think that Genji would be able to deflect it considering that he can deflect reins swings
Does he take the damage from the rock?
I think Reins swings still move Genji to be fair.
I think so? He gets stunned for sure
edit: I looked he does take the damage
if thats the case then it acts like a charge type attack, much like rocket punch, rein charge and brig bash

I def think its being treated like rocket punch/charge in that its a very telegraphed/charged up stun.
Maybe its bc he is controlling the rock the whole time as well? so it’s more like forcing something to hit you rather than throwing it?
You can deflect rocket punch. EDIT: I mean, I saw it happen in a video once but that was probably a bug I guess.
??? are you on crack? you get destroyed if you try to deflect rocket punch

You cannot. Please try it. C’ya in spawn, m8.

You most definitely can not. I go Doomfist to counter Genji all the time specifically because of that reason.
BTC did a testing video for all his reactions. Accretion does act like a charge. Dva can’t eat it and will act like a boop. Genji can’t deflect it. It will counter Rein and bring him out of charge, and stop Doomfist from punching.
If you are at the upper limit of its range, it will act like an earthshatter and knock you down for a brief moment with a stun. If you’re really close to it though, all it does is act like a sort of weak lucio boop and knocks you back a little bit.
I like Accretion being like this. It should be potent for the amount of counterplay it has.
Move. Out. Of. The. Way.
You know you can’t deflect it you know you can’t DM it, it’s slow as all hell, just move to the side.
