Underrated Tank Comps

Preface-

Orisa is one of the most underrated tanks in the game ATM. Now you can’t be a forehead and play her like Orisa 1.0, but if you understand this and treat her as an “off-angle poke anchor” where you have heavy natural cover and a nice angle into their Squishies, she is an absolute menace.

As such, most of these comps will involve her in the lineup, as I believe many players associate her with Sigma and do not understand how much value she can provide with other tanks-

#1. Orisa+Hog

#2. Orisa+Ball

#3. Orisa+D.Va

#4. Rein+Ball

Here’s a quick synopsis of each comp and it’s strengths-

Orisa+Hog is incredibly powerful if both tanks work out when to stack, and when to off-angle. Hog can keep Orisa from getting run over by enemy tanks by off-angling, while both tanks are incredibly competent duelists vs enemy squishies. Supercharger remains a fantastic Ult in general, while Whole Hog is still great for zoning or exploding an enemy tank. The comp is tough to dive, and if both players rotate correctly, is incredibly tough to brawl against (especially when a Brig is introduced to it, which I highly recommend).

Orisa+Ball is another “Shred the Squishies” tank lineup. Ball can constantly contest the objective, dive backlines, and push high ground while Orisa anchors off-angles for the team to regroup on. I’d recommend a DPS who can Dive with Ball be present, but Orisa can provide a nice anchor for recovering from Dives. Halt+Pile-Drive is an underrated combo that can seriously enable your DPS to make big plays as well. Minefield is a solid zoning Ult which can help Orisa regain space when she’s getting run over.

Orisa+D.Va is the ultimate “anti-dive” tank lineup. While Hog is another great anti-dive pairing, Orisa+D.Va offers insane stability for a team’s backline. The comp can neutralize very significant damage, but does struggle to turn fights itself due to their low damage output. For these reasons, glass cannon DPS (Tracer, Doomfist, Widow) and Zen are very strong with these tanks. They can provide the damage negation necessary for the team to survive, but need heavy input from their DPS and Supports to secure picks.

Ball+Rein is an incredibly fun and effective comp if your team (and Rein) treat it as a Dive comp and not a traditional Rein comp. Let Ball go in hard and get out the CC, and then in comes Rein and the DPS to clean up. It’s very disorienting for the enemy with both these main tanks wreaking havoc on their backline (Ball) and frontline (Rein) simultaneously. Add in some high risk+high reward DPS (Doomfist, Tracer, Reaper, Pharah) and you have a comp that is rewarded for hard feeding.
