"unavailable due to your groups skill rating range" - cant team up

Hello all,

this has probably been here before a lot but I couldn’t find an explanation for my particular problem. I recently started playing competetive. I have been playing overwatch for a while now but mostly quickplay and arcade. I started in silver but went down to bronze real quick after some unhappy matches. Im around 1300 in open queue at the moment. my friend also never played comp. and isnt even ranked yet. we played his first 5 placement matches together, won 3 and lost 2 of them. I dont even know if that matters. anyway after the fifth match we werent able to queue together because of the group skill rating range. My question is: I am in bronze and he isnt even placed yet and we still played 5 matches together but suddenly he is “to good for me”? I´m just trying to understand this logic. If anyone cound give me an explanation or maybe some advice how we could play together again I would really apreciate it. Thanks

Generally, an account starts at approximately ~2300 SR no matter what if they’ve never played comp before. There are also very high SR changes on a new account, meaning that if he went 3-2, he’d be around 2400 SR, which is 1000 SR more than you, which is outside of the allowed skill range.
