Unavailable due to account restrictions !?

Hello whoever reads this,
With the new anniversary 2019 update to overwatch , a serious bug has prevented me from using the find group/create group option.
It says in orange that ‘group unavailable due to account restrictions ‘
Overwatch is rated as a 12+game and before the resent update anyone could play the game with the group setting intact. Now I can no longer play and talk with other people and overwatch has become much more boring as a result. I hope blizzard fixes this issue allowing people between the age of 12 to 18 to use this FUNDAMENTAL overwatch feature to group up and make lifelong friends like I’ve done in the past.

You may need to check to see if there are parental controls enabled on your account. Learn more here:

My account has never had parental controls activated, it also is present in the custom game function. I no longer can change the name of my title and can not see the title of other games. This makes Overwatch workshop completely unplayable for me. Once again, I am positive that parental controls have never been enabled.

In your case, you will want to start a web ticket with Blizzard to see what account restrictions are in place.

In case you are ignoring it - several people have already reported the same issue - me included - with more detailed descriptions. Maybe you should look a little closer into this.

And those were just the first ones I could find again - they have been popping up every day since the Anniversary Update. I have made a post about it as well.

Okay for PlayStation 4, naming custom games or groups goes against their User Generated Content Policies. That is on Sony, not Blizzard.

This has never been an issue before the update. Also - the main account on my PS4 can still name groups and see group names without an issue. My friends can still name and see groups without an issue. This is something affecting mostly sub/“child” accounts and/or underage accounts (but old enough to play OW) even when they have NO parental controls on them - again this has never been an issue for those accounts before the Anniversary Update that included the workshop feature. Calling PSN they said there hasn’t been a policy change on their end. So why only suddenly with this update for multiple people out of nowhere?

I don’t mean to criticize you, but we are just looking for answers. My friend who is over 18 is having the same issue. The day before the anniversary I was able to name a custom game and the day after I was unable. Can you please double check because I have not receive any notice on a policy change, which they usually bring to our attention.

Just a thought that I started thinking of. Does anyone else think that since the custom game had a major update in its capabilities, that it could have been classified as a different category of social interaction than what it used to be, causing them to consider it more “dangerous”. That could also be causeing the problem. Thank you for your help.

The issue was for me now resolved as I turned 18 this weekend and my child account was upgraded to a main account.

Yet - this is a ridiculous and I don’t see the reason behind restricting group and workshop titles for family accounts. (The issue was not fixed just by turning 18, it needed really the upgrade to a main account.)

So I would like to know where in the user generated content policies it says something about not being able to name groups and the custom servers. I would also like to know why I can’t see other people’s names for those either. If somebody can point me where, that would be great. But otherwise, I used the group system a lot for new friends and creating a competitive team and it is mind boggling how I can’t do that anymore. I feel like 25% of the game for me is unusable and I really am upset about that. Blizzard, if you can resolve this problem yourselves, that would be very appreciated from not only me, but from these other users as well. (This is the quick read compared to my more detailed second post)

About the bug where the names of the group function and costum games are censored and I can’t name my own group or game, you said, “Okay, for PlayStation 4, naming custom games or groups goes against their User Generated Policies. That is on Sony, not Blizzard.” However, their policies were never changed according to AegyoRawr. I want to know where you, or somebody part of the OW team, found that it was against their policy in the first place. (Just show me/us there it effects the names of the groups and custom games) I used to use the group function every day, and it was great! I really looked forward to doing almost anything in the new workshop mode, but I was never able to do so because nobody wants to join a game that has a title of “kollinisawesome’s game”. I’ve tried to use the group function again and that ended up with a few drunk Germans, a gay bar, and 200 ping games because I don’t know where the host is in the world and well, I don’t want to end up in a gay bar again! I haven’t even tried to go into the custom game servers because I don’t know what they are doing and the only slight hint I get is looking at the rule set WITHOUT the workshop rules. So Overwatch has Quick play, Arcade, Competitive, and Custom games; therefore making 1/4 of the game completely unplayable and ruining my experience. The only reason I list out how important this is to me is because of how much I’m being affected by it to make it a priority to fix this as soon as possible. If you, Blizzard, reply to this actually showing that this is really on Sony with evidence, then I will have to deal with it and be upset about it. However, if there is no evidence of this being on Sony, please fix this. Although I’m only one person, a minor at that, I still believe that this can be resolved with everyone happy. I know this is my only chance at making anything happen, so please fix this issue. This small minority of the community will be pleased. Thank you.
