Unable to open menu after pressing Esc once

I am actually unsure if this is a bug or a feature, but I cannot find any information on the problems that I have been having. Whenever I am in game, around when the game is over, when I press the Esc key my menu won’t open. Once I press it a second time, however, it works just fine. This usually happens when the round is over before the word “DEFEAT” comes up, but I have proven that it doesn’t matter when I press the Esc key, it can be before or after the game ends, and before or after the DEFEAT appears.

I believe this is probably due to my “Always skip kill cam” option enabled, because this happens only on my respawn screen. So, it seems that Overwatch, even if it skips my kill cam, still looks for the Escape input to skip the kill cam regardless on whether the option is enabled or not.

This never fails to frustrate me, because the first thing I want to do when I lose a game is leave, and it is extremely tilting when that never works the first time.

Check for overlays that may interfere.

Same exact issue here. Noticed it sometime within the last year.
Put in to deter leavers or accidental leaving?
Either way its annoying. The esc key is far enough away from often used keys.

Nope, not overlay related, nor “skip kill cam” related. And still happening. Personally, I have to press Esc even more times before it comes up, 3 or 4 times usually. I think it’s a 1 or 2 second window when the key just doesn’t work, rather than a counter. Also applies after a round, not just after match.
