EDIT: Honestly nevermind its just not worth it.
Thatâs bad⌠you actually get to see less vertically.
This has been discussed to death. Blizzard have explained multiple times why itâll never happen.
Do a search next time.
I think you misunderstood what I meant. The current FoV is stuck at like 90 for Overwatch. A lot of people want the ability to make that higher to like 110+. The higher FoV would make the problems of using 21:9 less noticable.
Not just 21:9 people would benefit from higher FoV. I have a standard 16:9, and I canât play much more than a couple games because the really low FoV gives me headaches.
I bet itâs also a technical issue they donât want to deal with. They make objects in map turn off. The millisecond anything blocks them from you. The 21:9 area most likely has things turned off.
Yikes thats the worst implementation of Ultrawide I have ever seen in an fps game. So instead of stretching it, the dev team decided to cut the vertical fov to even less than a 16:9 ratio. How is it that this game is the only one not supporting Ultrawide when other competitive games support it and the playerbases dont complain about it
Thats a weak argument and its sad its still like this years after release
Than stretch it yourself. Set the game to 16:9 and use your monitor settings to stretch the game to fill your monitor.
I got mine two years ago, I felt just as disappointed⌠I searched for the reason why itâs not supported and found that itâs because the game is competitive, and some extra horizontal view will give you an advantage over those who donât have it. Similar games like Paladins donât offer 21:9 support too.
But you have two options:
- choose 21:9 aspect from the game video settings but that will crop top and bottom ( doesnât really feel that different )
- some monitors have an option to stretch the image but that wonât look good ( youâll get used to it with time )
Frame rates are capped at 300. Aspect ratio is capped as well.
I play on a 21:9 2560x1080 monitor and it works for me before I started to stream so I play in 1920x1080 now
I bought a 32:9 widescreen this january - and stopped playing Overwatch completely since then because of the lacking support of -any- non-16:9-resolution.
Most other games and modern shooters are well optimized for it and itâs an absolute blast to play.
Meanwhile Blizzard offers you to cut your visible field of view vertically or play with half your screen turned black - yeah that is disappointing.
Games should be made in a way to support any resolution - make your UI independent of the screens borders for example.
And it isnât like you always watch whatâs going on on the far out borders of your screen when playing on ultrawides. Itâs just a quantum leap in added immersion.
Uh no. haha, are you kidding?
Even literally playing Mercy will benefit from a high refresh rate. You just see so much more frames and can react better. And you can make better quicker decisions with more information displayed and aiming is so much easier.
The game is literally a slideshow when playing on 60hz in comparison to a high refresh rate monitor.
Itâs a huge ****ing advantage.
Uh no. haha. Iâm not kidding.
Before switching to my current 144Hz display I played on a 60Hz 4k monitor. Upgrading to 144Hz didnât magically skyrocket me to higher ranks.
Playing on a high refresh rate monitor is more pleasant because itâs easier on the eyes but I notice a difference in performance only while playing hitscan. Most hero abilities in this game require much more skills than frames.
Iâll soon upgrade to 240Hz just to please my eyes but donât expect it to magically boost my SR. High refresh rate is much more important in some other types of games (pure fps, racing, vr, etcâŚ).
I dont think id wanna use it in a competitive game anyway⌠the simpler the better
If you are going to buy obscure tech, donât expect it to be supported by everything.
Also donât necro old threads.
If you buy a Mac, you do so knowing most things wont be supported. Same with weird monitors.
Fr. Double standards
@waitress
a) I just donât want to use outdated tech like EGA graphics, Nokia phones or 1080p@60hz-Displays.
b) relevant topic is still relevant - or did I miss a patch? Could have also unnecessarily started a new thread insteadâŚ
If something is going to change, you will have to wait at least for OW2 either way. It will have new GUI which may actually be optimized for wider screens.
