Ultimate Mercy Guide

Hello everyone this is my second support guide my first was Brig which you can find here -----> The Ultimate Brigitte Guide

Mercy is a hero with a very low skill floor but also a high skill ceiling. Alot of Mercy players don’t move to fast past her skill floor but hopefully this thread helps them get there and helps anyone trying to learn Mercy.

  1. Mercy Techs - Superjump, Slingshot, Reverse GA and Super Jump without touching the ground. In order to super jump you need to crouch and ga at the same time for PC and crouch slightly before on console. In order to slingshot you simply need to click jump near the end of your GA. Reverse GA is when you click jump and then Ga right next to your ally to be launched upwards and backwards. Super jump without touching the ground is basically when you want to launch yourself back in the air without touching the ground. You can use it after your first super jump or from high ground. You press GA and jump when you are near the ground.

  2. Damage Boost Priorty

S Tier - Pharah, Echo, Ashe and Bastion
A Tier - Soldier 76, Hanzo, McCree, Junkrat
B Tier - Genji, Zenyatta, Sigma, Roadhog, Widowmaker, Symm and Winston & Full Charge Zarya
C Tier - Torb, the rest of the tanks, Reaper, Tracer, Ana and Bap
D Tier - The rest of the supports,
F Tier - Sombra and Doomfist

  1. Ideal Mercy playstyle - The ideal Mercy playstyle is pocketing DPS and peeling for the other support especially if Zen or Ana. You heal tanks if they are under 50% of their HP or thr other support can’t see them. Using corners are key. Don’t be afraid to let someone die if it puts you at great risk. Consider swapping Mercy if you have to heal too much or you need more peel with a Brig or running brawl.

  2. Common Mercy Misconceptions or Bad Plays

Spamming Superjump
Healing all the damage
Using Valk defensively against high damage ults
Using the Glock to try to pistol targets who won’t die in a couple of shots.
Flying to the sky box with Valk

  1. Mercy Abilities Usage

Guardian Angel is should be used to reposition into cover or heal allies you can’t reach without it

Damage amp should be used on dps like Hitscans, Flyers and Hanzo. It is also good at help dives and it’s good for cooldowns like Dynamite, Hook, Storm arrow, Echo being Echo, Firestrike and follow up after stuns.

Rez - Should mostly be used beginning of fight or in cover when you know it’s safe or you need that Ult

Valkyrie - Great at engaging and for peeling. It’s great with and against dive.

Overall when playing Mercy you should be pocketing dps or Zen and peeling for you other support and healing half HP or lower tanks. Valk is great for engagement and for peeling. Don’t use Valk in a fight where everyone is committing high burst ults.

Don’t spam superjump and use cover

Also for 5v6 fights that u know u gonna take, so yea if ur defending and someone got picked, pop valk.

It’s also a great response against Nano Winston, Ball and D.va

Just want to pop in and add something
I think high charge zarya should be here. Especially against like a d.va or sigma for instance. Her damage is very strong. Maybe you could even put her in A tier.

Obviously not below 50 charge zarya, tho.

Meant to put her there.

Your damage boost tier list lacks any context, particularly when it comes to tanks. If your Rein gets amongst the body of red team, Rein is S tier for damage boost. Ball is an excellent boost target after a piledriver. Sigma is a solid boost target in his range, though not the best unless your DPS are like Mei and Junk.

Hard and fast rules are the death of situational awareness.

I’d honestly argue that Winston is higher on the list.

He is fantastic for quickly jumping in and out of. Its an underrated synergy.

Spamming super jump is not always a good idea, especially when enemy has decent widow and other hitscans.

It’s just overall. Also let’s be honest who is running Mercy with Rein

Uh…lots of people, according to Overbuff.

The #1 Tank and #2 Support across all ranks.

Why is hanzo A tier and Widow B tier?

Her overall damage is lower, her rate of fire is lower, and Hanzo can spam shots rather than wait for targets.

My main question is why tho?

lol I’m bad for this but sometimes I only go to them if they are like under 25% hps just so I can hard pocket and stretch the blue beam further

But I feel as though it should be okay to let your ana / other support do their thing and heal tanks as long as they’re not dived and need peel

I mean they did put that under bad plays for Mercy players.

The amount of Mercy players that spam it pisses me off.

Anyways time to make a Lucio guide to finish the 3 Main Supports

I would pocket Reaper over Symm anytime…
Also Moira over Ana - that´s a quick ultimate charge.
Also, have you ever tried to pocket Orisa? I don´t see her in a list, but it can be pretty wild and underestimated^^

I use it against BOB - when I think, that my other support won´t be able to heal it and my team has nowhere to hide - effectivly.
