I am Autistic, and get overwhelmed by too many people speaking at once. I tried playing with the voices turned down and subtitles on. But I found out that with out the voice ques, there is Little warning for all Ult abilities. I think a generic sound effect to warn of these abilities would be helpful for people like me.
You mean a’la the sound effects like when a team-mate/enemy gets eliminated? (can be turned on the the options)
Even I can get confused at times with all the ult lines, some foreign, some english speaking heroes with certain skins get different voice-lines etc… It can be chaotic.
I wouldn’t mind a (FOR EXAMPLE)
“DOOT” for enemy ults, and a “BOING” for allied ult-lines to make it easier.
However, knowing which hero is using their ult is essential.
For example, if you’re Hanzo, you want to know when your Zarya is using Graviton Surge. If your Reaper is using their ult, it’s not that important for you to know.
i am also autistic and my forum posts keep getting flagged
i feel this is discrimination
blizzard should be more accepting of all people
It’s part of the skill of the game, you must learn the ultimate sounds of every hero.
Very valid concern, OP. They should definitely look into this.
The problem is that it can create competitive advantage, and then literally everyone switch to that mode, and then nobody has normal-looking matches. Although I don’t deny that you feel uncomfortable, and I feel you.
Play with voices at 0 and you’ll see that thats no risk.
Not sure if it’ll work for you but turn on subtitles, they even mention footsteps, I think.
I am the same, I started playing with voices completely off and used the settings to make gigantic green subtitles with the little hero icon next to them. It takes some getting used to to read them or glance down but was worth it for me.
