Why is it now possible to freely put the flag of Russia?
I’ve always wondered why there is no Ukrainian flag in the game. Due to the current times, many players would like to show their support for this country…
Because Russia allowed their flag to be in the game and Ukraine didn’t.

Probably not a great time to pester Ukraine about allowing their flag in a video game. I get where you’re coming from though.

My point, this is a forum about about a video game, people wanna use this to get away from the struggles of real events, not talk about it more.
If you wanna use a platform to talk about real events, why do it on a forums that is about a video game?
Reddit, instagram, facebook, youtube, twitter, even tiktok. This is an Overwatch Forums, people wanna come on here and talk about the Video Game.
That is just how I look at it. Now if Overwatch decided to do some type of charity or event to support it then that is a different story, because it still has something to do with the actual game.
It doesn’t help them. It’s just a way to show symbolic support.
Donating helps, and I’ve done that. I’ll happily put the UA flag as my icon.
We all do symbolic gestures. Why criticize one you disagree with, while ignoring the ones you do throughout your life?

At a large scale it most certainly does.
The overwhelming public support of Ukraine around the world puts a lot of pressure on politicians to actually act and do whatever they can to help.
It might just be a small symbolic act for a single person, but combine hundreds of millions of those little gestures of support and it does turn into something bigger.
