are you locking ppl into no-reset data-history?
or are u suggesting level != skill (not even upto some linear correlation; be prepared to defend with math). ?
games are so much more tryhard and interesting, if the mains vs. mains with all their skins and goldenguns. instead of some rando dia border vs./with a bunch of lvl28s.
why would u rig by some fakeable data and never reset but never rig by hours?

nameplates may as well be fake at this point, without alt-control and full/total resets and at least 1/3 their staff taking a walk.
if u want sweat match the high lvl accnts vs. high lvl accnts.
everything else just seems fake to any1 woke.
As much as I agree the matchmaking can be garbage, wouldn’t this make smurfing far easier if you started to associate level with MMR?

at least with “real accnts” with/vs. “real accnts” you have a sense of “real”. ofc we can’t promise the silver border is a primary accnt, but once you get above some hours, a threshold u should be “encouraged” into matches with/vs. accounts of similar xp. ofc xp != skill but the amount of burners just washed every sense of personalization away.
do they really want this game depersonalized? i want to beat surefour on his main accnt not his 8th incognito alt because he played other games, got old, got washed, and has to sneak around instead of manning up on 1 accnt.
smurfing goes away 1. when you remix it into the cess via resets (and then you play percentages like ultra low % a bronze vs. a gm) and 2. when the remix occurs there is less reason/incentive to smurf and ofc 3. where u just hwid the alts and chop them away or 4. paywall so no1 plays more than 1-2 accnts on the ladder.
smurfing also goes away when u stop rigging using data. if no data collect = true then u have literally nothing to rig for/against and ppl play only for wins/losses like it is in chess and everything else that’s not a fake sham.

My account is level bajillion. Peaked mid diamond 500 seasons ago. All I play against 24/7 are low level burner account sweat lords. Or hackers. Who even knows these days.
When I actually do see high level borders I’m usually wondering how these people have clocked hundreds or thousands of hours of Overwatch and have such a poor grasp on basic game fundamentals.
Why even have a matchmaker at this point?

agree wholeheartedly with this.
but it’s a circlular argument.
if lvl != skill (at all, even up to some correlation , i mean it surely does otherwise i could take goeff’s job tomorrow) - then they’re ranking by skill. if they’re ranking by skill? what the matches so broken and unfun and poorly matchmade? ergo match by lvl (bias it) and be done with it. at least we’ll see a bunch of goldenguns and proskins in the same lobby instead of all the defaults.
it’s depersonalization at it’s finest and will only be worse in ow2 with more f2p burners and 0 resets and zero payroll changes.
