Two years since Sym 3.0 hit PTR

How do we feel?

She’s had better days. In the last year’s she was hit pretty hard during Double Shield. The orb buff was nice. Turrets nerfed. Turrets nerfed again on console. The infinite TP, something I always thought I wanted is a big yikes.

Oh yeah. And still no victory pose with her gun. Same old same old.

she still remains very situational as a character and I don’t regret that. Although I think that the teleporter has not yet found a good balance.

Sometimes I win by making massacres, sometimes I lose without concluding much. in equal measure, although obviously I have more advantage against Orisa and Sigma.

Honestly they did a very lazy job. They could have given her orbs healing properties on allies, her turrets could generate shield on a small radius, barely anything big to keep her as a good support.

Tbh she’s only slightly better in pro play. Still trash-tier on most maps. Honestly I like and miss how creative you could get with her old kit tho.

She seems alright, but I don’t like the permanent teleporter change. Managing it’s cooldown is very clunky compared to what it used to be.

Nothing truly changed besides the hero gotten weaker. Her primary damage went to her turrets than primary. Shocking isn’t it?

I feel like they still could have screwed around with the idea of a support that uses shields and mild heals, like brig.

Like…give her turrets the option to be mini healing turrets that follow whoever you stick it on (Like Zens kinda) that can be destroyed, or used as damage turrets.

Or something that could generate shields as her E. Just…anything

And then they nerfed her primary and then her turrets.

Symmetra 1.0 was better…

:poop: hit the fan ever since and including the infinite tp nerf. like one simply doesn’t put a hero’s engagement AND disengagement ability on a guaranteed 12s waiting time esp if the hero has low sustain and low effective range (yes that includes orbs).

we’ve already seen how terrible serial cd was for winston barrier. it legit isn’t doing better on sym tp and effectively reverted her back to sym 2.0 gameplay.

and if we apply this serial cd to other heroes’ engagement AND disengagement abilities, it’d completely ruin them too. like can you imagine:

  • barrier tanks having their barriers on infinite duration but on a 12s cd that starts only after destruction/deactivation/expiry?
  • sombra’s invis and translocater have a tied cd of 12s which only starts when both have been used/destroyed/cancelled?
  • tracer’s blinks and recall have a tied cd of 12s which only starts when all blinks + recall have been used?
  • reaper’s shadow step + wraith have a tied cd of 12s which only starts when both have been used?

etc.

Still the same old Symm, not that good

Nobody wins except the ones she was meant to counter

I feel like Symm mains seem to be more focused on the past, and not what realistic future changes they can get out of the devs.

There’s no future changes you can’t get out of the developers. I mean it’s already 2020 and 2018 was the rework. Little tweaks was done to this spec and still haven’t changed her status. I think enough evidence can realistically say developers just don’t give a crap about Symmetra at all.

We call those little tweaks “breadcrumbs” because it’s just to say “we heard you, but we won’t deliver what you truly want”. It’s a Blizzard thing.

Honestly, I think Symmetra’s peak performance, and gap between team coordination and no coordination is what’s holding her back.

For instance, if they got rid of placing 4 sentries, then teleporting it behind the enemy team.

It would probably allow for some nice buffs.
And it’s not really that valuable against aware enemies.

I’ll be real with ya.

Support Symmetra didn’t need too much team coordination if played correctly. She literally setup flank traps and flank positioning. The new Symmetra or rather we call it 3.0 is just too team coordination like while the teleport has its benefits. She can’t do much on her own unlike her own self then again perhaps how I played her.

Whatever buff they give her won’t matter too much because it’s either going to be a damage buff or nerf. We already requested more turrets, or new ways to perfect orbs and beam, but they don’t want her to be relevant / overly viable. They just want us to stay quiet and enjoy their stale breadcrumbs.

All I would change is her ult so that it only dissapears when it’s destroyed, not after a cooldown.

My only Issue with her is her turret slow should not stack.
If you get stuck by all 3 you are just doomed.

I don’t think they are ever really gonna do anything about her because of all the reworks she got. I’m pretty sure that’s also why they barely ever touch Mercy because they never want her to be meta again
