i never thought i’d ever say this but thank you for this necro.
It looks like the group leader has more influence on server selection than the rest of the group. (only tested with group size of 2)
If you are the group leader, no attempt should be made to join the ME servers, even if the rest of the group has not blocked these IPs.
Blizzard could change how they deal with players blocking IP’s at any time.
It is technically possible to consider these players as “connected”, which causes them to lose SR as soon as the first connection is attempted. Completely independent of the client response ( block / reject )
I configured an openvpn split tunnel server some time ago. In my configuration, all Blizzard IPs are blocked, except for those that I have explicitly allowed.
If anyone is interested, let me know and I’ll put it together at some point.

Doesn’t work for me.
If I block everything but NA I keep getting AMS1 again even though it’s blocked.
btw blizzard when you go to buy overwatch it says you can select regions to play on!! that’s a lie now!~
They use google cloud services right now. I’m almost sure that locking indi individual IP would be worthless, if they handle in a smarter way you will never know what server you actually conected to, just their proxy/cache servers. Banning those will increase latencies and doing nothing to you. If you want a proper solution the most reliable way would be VPN or tunneling alternatives. Either way it’s a risk.
It’s better to just ask for blizzard implement a auto translate system or provide an option align folks with something like 1-3 acceptable languages or improve the communication wheel a bit more, making the language barrier smaller. Because most of the folks who avoids servers are because of language barriers.

Check your anti virus firewall
I had the IPs blocked on windows fire wall but Kaspersky was allowing them

I have already blocked the ME servers, but now I’m matchmaking in a server that it’s IP is (5.42.186.77) does anyone have its range so I can be able to block them ??
it’s not that I don’t like it, but whenever I join the server that starts with 5, the game gets hanged and it kicks me out after a while with a leaver penalty

What is the server name?
It should say in the top left of the network diagnostic or whatever you call it
MES1 is middle east
CDG1 is France
AMS1 is The Netherlands
LAX1 i think is Los Angeles

I live in the Middle East and I used to block ME servers successfully, but now it connects me to South East Asia (Singapore). Does anyone know IP ranges for Singapore?

I ALWAYS matched in AMS1 & CDG1, and I think AMS1 is causing the kick-outs, so I wanted to avoid both of them and join GSG1 Server, which i think belong to Singapore

Just tried connecting to [Lax1] to play on the West coast from the UK and had to block another IP. Bahrain 15.184.0.0 - 15.184.255.255 using a site called whois .com. Go into custom match CTRL+SHIFT+N For the IP.
The 180 ping is hopefully worth it.
Excuse the necro, but is this still working for others?
I’ve used this since crossplay came out with no issues.
However, since yesterday, whenever I use it to force NA connection from EU, my queue’s never pop.
I can sit in any gamemode queue for an hour, nothing.
Mystery Heroes usually pops up to 2 minutes, but lately I can queue up for 12+ minutes and have no games at all

Might as well say, custom games work fine.
I’m from Australia, and when I try to block my server’s IP I get stuck on “Game server connection failed… Retrying.” when trying to launch Overwatch. Does anyone know how to fix this?
