Turn shadows on and off

Not all people have money for a dedicated graphics card or a new gaming computer. But many of them would still love to play games like Overwatch but can’t, because in this game you can’t turn off one of the most graphically demanding settings in most games : shadows.

It’s the problem for me and many users. I can run the games at 55 fps when there is no action and it drops to 30/20fps when too much is happening. Turning off shadows would allow me to have a smoother gameplay and I know for a fact that it would allow many more players to play the game smoothly.

No it wouldn’t give any advantage to us, all it would do is make the game less demanding which would allow a bigger range of players to purchase and play the game with their lower-end machines.

I’d also like to know the reason why Blizzard has decided to prevent people to turn shadows off via the settings file.

Thanks for considering this post for all low spec gamers out here.

Where are people getting these machines that are too low end to play Overwatch? I’m curious really. Anyway, 20-30 fps is playable. I used to play with worse than that and it was perfectly fine.

It’s most likely a blanket prohibition about modifying game files. Makes it much easier to enforce the rule if everything is denied rather than allowing exceptions.

That’s how games work, get a better PC

Maybe they already got it from a long time and they can’t afford new parts, that’s even wrote in the thread

  1. From the past
  2. Obviously it wasn’t perfectly fine if you “used to” play at it.

Stretching the truth to make a point is unbecoming…

adding ’ DirectionalShadowDetail = “0” ’ to the “settings” file doesn’t work?
