In preparation for Overwatch 2, Is it possible to Unlink my Xbox Account from my PC Account so both accounts keep their respective cosmetics and progression? Ideally, I would unlink my Xbox account, create a new battle.net account, then link the Xbox account to the new battle.net. I just want to make sure this wont delete my Xbox Accounts progression or cosmetics.
Why wouldn’t you want everything shared? Otherwise assuming you engage in OW2’s monetisation, you’ll be buying battlepasses and such twice when you could just have all your skins be combined into 1 account.
Also progression in terms of levels is being deleted so you lose that anyway.
This^
Why would you want them not linked?
Sorry I didn’t fully explain before, My Partner and I both play overwatch. He plays on Xbox and I play on PC. But since our accounts are under the same battle.net account we can’t play with each other now that cross play is out. I would like to separate the accounts so we can play together one day.
Blizzard Account Management allows you to do just that
Under Account Overview
- Connections
Then simply
- Disconnect
That should do the trick
Just to clarify, that would fully prep and separate both accounts for the launch of overwatch 2? I won’t need to create another battle.net account for my Xbox account to link to?
That’s the actual process necessary to Link and to Disconnect Accounts
- Have I personally attempted such? No.
- Do you have any other Choice or Options? No!
Idk how to Answer that Question since I never attempted such myself.
Only those whom have Disconnected Accounts would ever know for certain.
I will try the unlinking method and pray. The other option was to merge the 2 accounts and force one of us to start over from scratch. Which would not be fun, but it is better than losing either of the accounts slew of cosmetics.
I do believe I did read about XBL and PSN requiring Blizzard Account creations in order to play OW2. I will look for the article now.

Overwatch 2 will require all players to have a Battle.net account linked to a phone number.
Okay this makes alot more sense.
Be aware you will need a new battlenet account. Since the game is cross-platform, battlenet is how they are doing this. So your xbox/ps4/pc accounts connect to a battlenet profile and then that is used to matchmake. Similar to how COD uses the Activision accounts. I’m afraid there is no way around this.
Also I have a feeling all the stuff will have sync’d now so saving your skins etc. won’t be possible. The reason Overwatch is down is so they can migrate all of that stuff so I’m not sure you’ll be able to separate the skins anymore. You may be able to if you contact Blizzard support but they’ve never been useful when I’ve contacted them so set your expectations low.
