I played my first 3 games of comp OW2 and went 0-3, that’s it for me. I don’t want to bother with a game mode I suck at and with very little coordination on the part of my teams. I’m not going to rage like I used to, but I will say it’s still disappointing playing somewhat well and still losing.

Honestly outside the jerks. People will try and give advice to players. Only people that act like they already know everything gets roasted lol. If you want advice on getting better people legit will try and help.
I started playing comp a few weeks ago after playing casually since launch (took multiyear long break) My placement matches were all one sided stomps (mostly my team losing), but once you get placed it gets alot better.
I actually enjoy comp alot, granted im gold support silver dps and tank, so not super high at all.
Dont get too stressed at losses, it happens, not a big deal. I’m playing only comp lately, no goal or “i need to get ____ rank!” just playing for fun and trying to win, and seeing where i can get up to. If we lose thats ok, can always win the next game! Of course i occasionally get tilted, we all do, but i just step away and take a break for a bit.
Dont be discouraged and good luck in future matches.
Chances are you need to down rank a bit first. Placements are working it out. Keep playing it is more balanced then qp. Up to you. I would say just get 50 games in and see how it’s going.
Playing pretty well doesn’t really say a lot. Unless you see a gm player against your team you probably won’t have a strong understanding of the output potential of the heroes.
This is like telling people to just keep their hand on the stove till 50 hours in, and then maybe it’ll get good.

It’s telling people to play probably 10 hrs of comp. But yeah if people don’t want to know their actual rating keep playing qp.
Also the point is they will get to a place of balance. Can’t expect your first time in that you will be at your equilibrium.

true. I had to play like 15 games before I started getting consistent close matchups. I can’t play qp anymore. the skill gap there is insane.
Like I want to improve, and I’d be willing for advice, the problem is I have a bad mental block when it comes to competitive OW. Any other game I play, I can play at a respectable level with the occasional bad game where comp OW, it’s skewed opposite. Like you could tell me I need better aim or whatever, and I’d do things to improve it but then come game time I can’t perform whatsoever. And when I was a tryhard in OW 1, I noticed the games were just streaks and nothing else, I’d either win every game or lose every game no 50/50 or even a 1/4 win ratio. I’d like to play it somewhat serious but it just doesn’t seem like it’ll work out or at least to the level I want to play at.
Honestly I feel where you’re coming from. I’ve been competitive gaming for literally decades. While OW has a casual exterior its actually a pretty complex game. It took me a long time to really get a good grasp on the mechanics and all the interactions in game. It can make people feel like they’ll never get it and be stuck forever or they’ll just have a frustrating time. Id say more than anything just have fun.
If people are rude in comp disable chat. I regularly do this as a ball player on tank. Not as much on this account but my other one. This ones a bit higher than the visual rank so it plays at a level where people start to understand balls playstyle a bit more.
But yeah, Just have fun. Youll get better just by playing over time. One thing I can suggest is find a playstyle you like and stick to heroes that fit it. Like if you like the dive style, stick with mobility, if you want to work on aim and mechanical skill ranged heroes like Cassidy or widow, as far as support id say in OW2 you almost always want mobility especially gold or below. But more importantly just try and have fun, play different comps and playstyles. Find what you like most and make little steps here and there to improve.
Other things like your actual game setting, lower graphics for the best FPS, try different sensitivity setting. Stuff like that actually helps out a lot as well. Unless your running like a 30 series or something then bump it up to epic cause this game technically would run on a potato so thats only in extreme cases where youre on outdated hardware to help boost frames.
Oh that’s the other thing. QP and Comp MMR are separate. so it takes about 100 games. After that the system will be better at placing you in matches. It uses your QP MMR at first but they then diverge from each other as far as we know. People say its 50, but id say its closer to 100 before it has any real level of certainty.
I wouldn’t worry about losses. There are no more real ranks in OW2, just playing for a gold gun if you don’t have them or a trinket from OW1 for 20 bucks. I’m hard bronze with diamonds in my games… In order to make the game “Fair” they decided to gut the entire reason for ranks. I kill diamonds this game, they kill me next game and the rank just stays flat. They really need to fire the idiots over matchmaking because now you will never know where you really sit.
I appreciate the helpful words. I think I just need to move on from OW, I can’t even enjoy it from a casual perspective because QP is just as bad as comp. It’s just a combo of my skill and I think the game is just unbalanced to favor what I want in the game.
