What if instead of placements we had a trial testing the player’s mechanics and understanding vs intelligent AI to put them into a specific SR-range? Like a license to join competetive Overwatch? You could even put a minimum requirement to pass the test or some tweaks to detect people who want to trick themselfes into lower elos.
Part of this trial could be:
- A better tutorial at the beginning of the trial
- Basics with objectives
- Basics of roles
- Positioning/Using Cover etc. / Peaking corners
- Aim (Tracking, Flicking, Predicting etc.)
- Reaction to flanks (180/360 turns)
- more advanced stuff once you successfully complete certain levels
