TreeBoyDave is known for being the highest level OW player but he recently got banned on Overwatch for allegedly hacking. He has streamed for years and it is clear to everyone in his community that he has no intent to hack or use any cheats. He doesn’t play comp and only plays the game casually.
Can someone at Blizzard please look into this and possibly unban Dave. He has spent thousands of hours of grinding for it all to be taken away from him.
Blame The Controller recently made a video which sums up the situation:
UPDATE
TreeBoyDave tweeted today:
#FreeboyDave wins! Thanks to all of you for helping me recover my account, this has been an emotional 2 days!
Special thanks go to @BlameTC @ItsMeMollyO and @JNashty, as well as all of YOU for the great help and support!
Your amazing support really helped me get through this!

Just because someone has alot of time spend in-game doesn’t mean they wont hack.
Wait for him to post an update on the appeal process, you posting here does nothing.

A lot of players have been caught in the banwave. Kinda weird that he announces this so late though because most players have already gone through the process like a week(s) ago I wish they’d come forward with an apology message and reveal the numbers on how many innocent players were caught in the banwave(s)

i know they probably couldnt reveal how people got banned but i really wonder if it has to do with other anti-cheats other games use like vanguard and denuvo

Yeah they seem to have changed the anti cheat recently but something is setting it off which the obviously can’t reveal but a lot of people are being falsely banned.

They want you to believe that they couldn’t publish it because it could endanger the anticheat system.
In fact, it didn’t take 6 days to get around the new cheat detection.
At some point, you will probably only be on the safe side if you use professional cheats.

As a long time viewer and fan of Dave, I know he hasn’t used cheats. You can watch his stream on the day of the ban and it is clear that there are no cheats.
Just updated my post with Blizzard’s response. I’m trying to raise awareness since this ban is incredibly unfair for someone so dedicated to this game.

Seems punishments are pretty heavy handed currently. Did they tell him what “illegal software” triggered the ban?
You can also be suspended for telling someone they should be banned for throwing their matches. (It is considered trolling by the mods) It is just ridiculous.
I really hate feeling like I have to tip toe around in fear of getting actioned on.
EDIT: I wonder if maybe he was using one of those stat tracker programs that were banned like a year ago.

I don’t know the whole story on this. There can be a handful of things that have caused this.
Did you know that some motherboards actually did ship with an AIMBOT for their mouse software, it even says this on the driver warning! Needless to say they no longer sell it. But eitherway some people accidentally loaded this and can get banned. (Just a fair warning)
Any type of an add-on that is used for playing is considered CHEATING. Doesn’t matter if it is VISOR, or something downloaded from the internet that runs with the game to stat-track your team mates or even “you” as a player. It is still a form of cheating.
Even some MOUSE or KEYBOARD software can do this (Which is WHY I do not run it or install it).
Anyway it is just better not to download ANYTHING from the internet for an add-on, it is NOT worth losing an account over.

Then every single person who has these anti cheats on their computer would be banned as well.
i’m willing to bet this is what happened and he wasnt aware that this could ban you, his mistake tho but unfortunate

what about the mass ban-wave that alot of players overturned recently? something had to set it off… a mistake on their end or something?

Illegal software such as pirated windows can show invalid responses, this is the most common case i’d think of.
Otherwise stat overlays or other stuff.
Though since CS mentions “Illegal” then it isn’t related to that, so it’s most likely pirated software/games or other items like that.

So because you are a viewer of his, you know for a fact he hasn’t used cheats? Have you been to his house? have you seen what hes been doing 24/7? No you haven’t.
You can’t claim hes 100% innocent as you simple don’t know, no matter how much you “know” a twitch streamer. It makes no difference who the person is, he still has the ability to cheat.
The response from support seems pretty clear. People who have made tickets who where caught in the ban wave got there ban lifted. If hes gotten that reply, it seems they have something on him.
All he can do is put another ticket in and ask for them to investigate further. If it turns out it was other third party software, he will be unbanned like others.
Don’t be so quick to jump to his defence saying its an unfair ban.
No one knows yet, other than him (and possibly support staff if they looked into it)
Evidence is the main thing here.
That was like 3 weeks ago, they reinstated false bans from that already.
This looks a new one, and it is a fair tradition that they do a ban wave after the anniversary event sale to catch all those who bought bargain accounts and decided to cheat.
Discussing account actions are against the forum rules and open up your account to suspension. I recommend deleting your post.
There is always the possibility that he was using cheats of some kind so
not even cheats probably 3rd party software for stat tracking or some type of add-on
his fault still tho but that is unfortunate

Why would he say it like this? It would imply he has cheated on other games before overwatch , “no intent to hack or use cheats?” Like who says that?
