TRASH GAME. I love going on a winning trend and then losing

literally love how ridiculous this system is. Imagine being to close to plat and then deranking and losing all the progress. Like disgusting. if that is how they think this is going to make people keep coming back, it wont. At least Marvels is so much better than this garbage.

Losing is the absolute worst

Mahvel taught me that winning against bots is actually worse. You just feel so empty

Imagine a matchmaking system where winning increases your mmr so that you play against better players.

Seems like just below plat is where you belong, then, which should be the goal. Matches with other people at your skill level is what you want, right?

the annoying thing about the Overwatch match making is either you stomp someone or you get stomped, rarely an in-between.

Would you prefer to just always be ranking up? Because, that’s not how ranked games work

That would be better than what we have, where your opponents get better but your teammates get worse.

That is not what is happening. Your teammates are also getting better, on average. You are just not good enough to win more. When you are where you belong, you are no longer the outlier. You are no longer the person better than their rank able to carry the game nor the person worse than their rank getting stomped. You are exactly where you should be.

Honestly, the opponents are not even better to begin with. They are still easy to outplay, your dead weight is just more useless. The true test of skill. Can you carry them without your arms snapping?

Sorry, but that’s not how it works. Maybe they adjusted something just before the drive event to make it better, but in my experience, if you start performing too well, they lay on the bad teammates until you derank, and then you’re in a lower rank so your teammates get even worse.

You keep dropping until you can consistently win 2v1 and 3v1 versus the enemy team.

What it seemed to be doing is looking at your deaths/elims/damage/etc. per 10 and giving you consistent underperformers at the given mmr range if you rose too far above average.

I finally started getting some okay matches during the drive event, so maybe they tweaked something, or maybe the sudden influx of quickplay warriors shook things up to the point where the algo behaved differently.

Sorry but that is exactly how it has worked for the past 8.5 years and how every single multiplayer game with any non random matchmaker works. Similarly the self delusion you have where you think “I am being held down by the matchmaker which is out to get me” is also a common trend in every single multiplayer game.

The effect you are describing does not exist. It has never existed. There is no reason to make it exist. What is happening is you are where you belong so you are dependent on your teammates being better to win because you are not the difference maker anymore.

The litany of unranked to GM runs that are done over and over and over show that if you just play better you will climb and the game is not trying to stop you. At the end of the day the system is not intentionally adding pointless complexity just to prevent you from climbing. You are simply not good enough to be higher ranked so you are not.

Could you tell me what’s your rank pls?

So that would mean your opponents keep getting worse and worse…

I don’t know if you’re aware, but this is a team game. If you rank up to a level where you can’t play well, your teammates also won’t play well because of you. Have you ever heard people complaining about how they can’t win because of their weak teammate? Yeah, well, when you rank up too high, YOU ARE THAT TEAMMATE.

Usually I would get one or two opponents that were obviously outperforming everyone else on their team (and sometimes everyone in the lobby). If they had two or maybe three people like that then they would typically win. There would be pretty big gaps between them and everyone else. These people would be about as good from low silver all the way to maybe plat where stuff would even out more.

Or sometimes I would get one guy like that on my team, and we would play off each other’s strengths and win. Silver basically has 2-3 high gold or plat level players in every match, and it seems completely arbitrary as to where it puts them. But if I stick my head out and top frag too much as dps, I’ll lose those teammates. For whatever reason it stopped happening during the drive event. Only rarely did I get matches where everyone was obviously a silver, and those were always easy wins.

In my plat games (support/tank) things seemed a lot smoother, though the individual performances of any one person in those matches closely resembled the better silver players I routinely see when playing dps.

Im sorry to bring it, but thats natural… if you are winning a lot your mmr goes up meaning that you will get harder people to play against. and at some point they are beter then you.

If/when that happens, you should be bottomscore on your team and probably in the entire match. When you “get harder opponents”, top frag, lose, and derank , it’s not the same thing.

It’s not all about you. For every game you (and four other people) lost, there are five people who just won. You think the matchmaker is rigging games against you, does that mean it’s rigging games in favor of all those people? If so, you could just as easily have been on that side, but I doubt we’d be seeing you in here complaining in that case.

Look we all hate dealing with it but it’s a team game. I really do wish that everytime I was smacked down several elos after getting to my peaks was because I got outplayed instead of my teammates but that is just the curse of online team games.
