Training yourself to do more arm aiming

Hello. I currently do a lot of wrist aiming (with arm aiming a bit, too) and I want to change over to more arm aiming, with minor adjustments with wrist. How could I train myself and get the muscle memory down to use my arm more?

Put a cast on your wrist to prevent it from moving?

make your aim sense lower, you have to use your arm more that way.

Joke aside, I found out that when I played with low sensitivity, I automatically adjusted to arm aiming since the wrist can’t move fast enough

Hi,

I’m not sure how much can I help you, but try with this video, maybe it helps you in some way.

Besides this, do you have enough room on your desk and appropriate mouse pad for arm aiming?
I use 900 DPI and in-game sensitivity is from 3.5 - 4.5, depends on hero I play, as other said, lower sensitivity will make you arm aim.

Yes, I do. I assume that I should be doing something like flicking to a target with my arm, and then making adjustments with my wrist?

Lower your edpi and it should happen naturally.

Try with this one, it’s only 2 mins long but I think it talks about points that you’re interested in.

or other version but a longer video

edit: also you can go thru DPI Tool to check if your DPI and sensitivity settings are appropriate for your screen.

well most of the pros are hybrid aimers. with lot of wrist and bit of arm. I play at 1600 x 2.5 and that is generally hybrid aiming at its best.

Low sens is fine but theres always advantages of not going too low. Its still personal preference. But from my perspective and ow being a very aim intensive game with both vertical and horizontal and short range fast tracking game, you need to be able to do those fast 180’s and stuff as well. Just something to think about.

so you think that making a fast 180/fast 90 with your arm and adjusting with your wrist and then tracking/ making adjustments from there is the best way?

Yes.

I used to play at 1600 x 4.5. What i did was i slowly decreased it bit by bit but still making sure i could do a 180 very fast like how most top tracer mains do. Being able to do that fast 180 no matter what hero you play is pretty important in ow and its a good point to balance what you are physically capable moving ur hand / wrist against what the game requires.

So try to get it down as low as possible while maintaining the ability to 180 in a single swipe. Once you hit a point where you cannot physically do it any more without hindering your aiming, then stop and just try to get used to that sens.

I have seen lot of players just go very low and they under aim a lot at close range. Its just not worth it.

There are many pros who play at much higher sens than even me and they still aim very smoothly. Its all about getting used to the sens. But like i said go as low as you could gradually decreasing it but still make sure you dont under aim.

alrighty. thanks so much for the detailed response.

Lower your sens so that you use your arm more?

Nah. I have a 3.8k edpi anyway, and that doesn’t change the fact that I would lift up my mouse anyway after a while when using wrist
