Tracer - why is she still incomplete?!?!

Tracer was the lead role of the game originally and a super cool character. I am very interested in understanding why she is STILL missing an entire move?

I would play her a lot more if her right click (or left shift, cause the do the same thing) was changed to a 150 damage version of the sticky grenade with a 20-30sec timer on it.

So my best suggetsion for an ULT to replace the current one:
PHASED!
Tracer rewires her chronal accelerator, she phases out and can dash unlimited and phase through walls and enemies she takes double damage but her unstable form allows her to damage anyone she walks through at the cost of some of the time on her Ultimate with each ā€œattackā€.

Tracer is one of the strongest heroes of the game, she do not need more than has.

nerfed pulse bom come on good time, the only one thing i see for her is the self damage on pulse bomb

She is one of two characters in the game that is missing a full move in the base set of moves… 2 buttons do the same thing. My idea makes her more breakable and able to do roughly the same or less damage. She would balance into her role of a forward and make it possible to better stand up against the new Sombra changes.

She’s missing a move based off of what? just because she has one less move doesn’t mean she’s missing anything, it’s called balance not quantity.

My suggestions include balancing… Why do two keys do the same thing? It seems like filler…

But why does tracer need to be changed.

Edit: keys didn’t register properly in my mind because i play on console but i could also ask the question why not.

Symmetra gets changed 2 times and I would argue the exact same thing about her first build… I like the idea of each key doing something different, Tracer is still a super basic character and her range of advanced movement has become rather limited imho and in my research and viewing. Making her ULT do something new is a way to change her without changing her play style. I’m sure you have spent games being targeted solely because you’re the tracer on the team, you’re forced to flank out of sight and hope that you lay down some damage once the tank is around… Her front line disruption has been reduced because of the new changes and the new characters added again, in my humblest of opinions.

Tracer is a super basic character

Of course she is, considering she has a near infinite skill cap

But symmetra was underpowered and tracer has been blanced since launch give or take her pulse bomb nerf.

I’ve never really experienced that and when i do i send them on a pointless chase so my team can capture the objective, and if you mean brigitte when you say new characters then i don’t really have problem brigitte, it’s the same as pharah vs brigitte in itself meaning stay away from them, it’s not like tracer is the only one on her team to battle brigitte.

Also

This right here.

If I see a Tracer and she gets close, I kill a tracer and tell the team not to worry anymore lol… At the end of the day it’s just a suggestion, what is this adding to the conversation? I am not being convinced that my idea is a bad one by any point thus far… IMHO Tracer is the equivalent of Mario in Smash Bros, anyone can use her, only some can be good with her, I really enjoy her, which was my original point, I think that she could use with a full move set, so she can do more complicated things in specific circumstances… Right now I feel limited key input is her only drawback… I’m just saying it would make her feel more complex.

I don’t think your idea is bad but there’s no point in changing a balanced character that doesn’t feel clunky, you seem to be more fixated on her lack of a key then her state of balance, also soldier 76 is the mario of overwatch, i’ll go along with your idea though, the problem with pulse bomb as a ability is that anytime you have pulse bomb it basically confirms you kill the enemy, it’s not like junkrat’s bomb/mine combo because her primary fire is very powerful when you hit all your shots. Her ultimate idea sounds good but there are problems with it such as i never actually find myself running out of blinks when i need them so with the damage taken increased it would just be a nerfed state along with the ability to go threw walls which would give that ultimate tons of out of map bugs, the damaging enemies part by going through them sounds interesting but i think it would act to much like swift strike, i think what i would do with that as a ultimate is give her a faster movement speed maybe a 50% increase and unlimited blinks and the ultimate would last about 7 seconds, i know my idea seems simpler but that’s all i could think of for the moment.

Last time we made an ult an ability, that character was severely nerfed. A 150 bomb that can stick is too good, every team fight a good tracer will stick the supports and they’re pretty much dead, making her even more annoying to deal with than she is currently.

I agree with you but what character was nerfed?

Mercy, how could you forget

A must pick healer doesn’t sound like a nerf.

she wasn’t a must pick before her rework, only after they made her ult an ability, which needed to be toned down multiple times

Yeah but she wasn’t severely nerfed otherwise she wouldn’t be a must pick healer presently and i don’t want to go back to the cancer that is mass ress, i’d rather have mercy as the most powerful healer instead of that but that’s just my opinion ( i wasn’t sure who you were talking about because symmetra also had her ultimate moved to a abilityšŸ˜‚)

Okay so back to Tracer

Amendments:

  • Pulse bomb on left shift does 100 instead of 150 and has the same cooldown
  • suggested ULT can’t go through walls but still has unlimited blink, impermeable and damaging while going through enemies. Also resets all timers when falling out of 7-10 second cycle.

Would make for great escape tactics and the pulse bomb would not kill but rather maim

Considering we are starting from the reworked mercy 1.0 where her valk was 20 sec, gun did 2x dmg, GA faster, res w/o cast time, and then can res again every 10 sec (during valk), she was severely nerfed. All of these were taken away because they were too good. Shes still a must pick healer because as long as she has res, she can turn a disadvantage into an advantage (and compared to the other healers, she can heal w/o complications). And sym hasn’t been in comp yet so we can’t really say if her new tp is balanced or not.

It was probably how it was worded, saying severely nerfed use makes people think a character is underpowered presently but i guess that’s not mercy’s case which is funnyšŸ˜‚

and i have two complaints with sym, her primary fire feels weeker compared to her old one even with perfect aim and her turrets still have a 10 second cooldown but besides that i think they did a great job with her rework.
