Hitscan heroes are by default not the hardest heroes in the game to play. In my opinion, Hanzo is the hardest. Sure, you can get by the lower levels spamming your arrows and hoping for the best, but at some point, you’re going to need to aim and being able to do that reliably on Hanzo is WAY harder than any of the hitscan characters.
Then you’re not measuring by skill. You’re measuring by your own personal biases.
The improvement between a 1000 and 5000 hour Widowmaker and a 1000 and 5000 hour Moira is subjective and cannot be quantified, much less generalized to the overall population.
What can be quantified is how difficult it is for a given hero to reach and maintain high ranks; we can measure that by looking at the hero’s pickrate at said ranks. If a hero has a low pickrate in GM, it’s largely because it’s really hard to play those heroes well enough to stay in GM. More skill is required to do so. Thus, the low-pickrate heroes are the high-skill heroes.
GM Tracers are a dime a dozen. Anyone can reach GM on Tracer if they put the time in. A GM Bastion, on the other hand, is a unicorn. You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone as good at their respective hero(es) as GM Bastion players are, and that’s simply a matter of necessity; if the Bastion player wasn’t lightyears better at Bastion than the GM Tracer players were at Tracer, then the Bastion player wouldn’t be able to compete with the Tracer players and wouldn’t be GM. The hero is just too weak otherwise.
Which means skill is not simply “how hard a character is”. It’s a matter of “how hard a character is to do something with”.
If Widowmaker could kill six players with one headshot, she would be much less skillful than she currently is. We didn’t change the requirements; we changed the rewards. Rewards matter.
What??? Spamzo is the only reason that i’m almost master in DPS and it’s my less played role. Sure, i don’t hit those insane shots, but once you understand where and when to spam, he’s too easy. His arrows hitboxes are broken
