Tracer is no longer fun

Something has changed between OW1 and OW2. I have mained Tracer since the beginning of OW1. I always loved her playstyle and played many hours of QP and some Comp.

But I can’t play her in OW2. Something is missing. I feel like she is no longer a flanker but just mini soldier. Playing her in OW2 Role Queue feels like playing 6v6 QPC where everyone is dps and is shooting at you. There is one enemy player less in the game and I feel like there is one or two more.

I try to force myself but I can’t. The fun is gone for me. What do you think?

The best I can do is offer her 5 more bullets.

I guess losing the ability to one clip a squishy after 6 years of being able to do so would do that. I’m looking forward to Brig’s new ult cause Rally got gutted into uselessness… but at the same time, what if it’s like Bastion’s new ult!?

Brig plants down on the ground bends forward touching her head on the ground, and grows a turret, which fires a bunch of shots?

I mean, I have had stranger mental images, but not many.

She still feels ok to me.

ROBOT

Oh.

Nevermind thought you were going the thirsty route. :sob:

I have no idea what could replace her ult but GOD i hope it’s a good support ult.

actually, that might actually be helpful for a tracer more than mercy lol.

Per gun? +25% ammo is unironically a very strong buff for a mag-dump playstyle. :joy: Actually OP.

OP, were you one of us unfortunate players affected by mouse input issues with OW2? They hit Tracer especially hard and gave her an entirely different feel, but I thought most were resolved by now.

I’m a tracer main and I felt the subtle difference in ow2 beta. 5v5 forces tracer to play much more carefully and like an assassin. She can’t exactly dive among the controlled chaos that ow1 was. Less targets, less barriers, quicker fights = more attention to tracer. Ow1 fights used to drag on much longer and were more methodical, so Tracer had room to work with before. People will tell me to get gud and tracer is fine, but there’s no doubt her skill ceiling is much higher now when characters like Kirko can hard counter her. Tracer used to be all about reckless diving in and relying in reflexes/instinct to avoid danger, now we have to adopt more of a genji playstyle.

looks at CoolUsersname’s maths, squints a little, looks back at CoolUsername.

Adding a percentage of ammo to a gun doesn’t double the percentage, if you have a second one.

Meaning it strikes down overhealth packs but most get stuck on roofs? :joy:

Have you ever seen the scrapped ult concept art where her flail shoots out molten lava? That could be cool if they could somehow make it support appropriate.

Technically OW is fine. They even optimized the engine and game can run 240Hz in 4K! That is insane.

Tracer damage feels fine. It’s just taken damage. You are tracked and shoot everywhere, dueling is gone. I was playing her as a duellist/flanker, never liked her as just another damage spammer in the team and it looks like it is her role now

Not on my setup it doesn’t  Hell, my 4k screen can only do 30hz. (I’m not even kidding)

I think with one less tank to pocket supports aren’t as tunnel visioned as they were in OW1. It’s harder to get the jump on someone when they’re more aware of you.

Try low settings with setting models and textures to high (in short). There are advanced guides how to setup OW2 correctly. I can recommend iostux guide on YT

No I mean, my monitor only does 30 hz at 4k
No amount of game tweaking can make it better

I have another 180hz 1080p monitor though  - that is good and useful

:joy: I asked “per gun?” Are you offering 5 rounds total or 5 rounds per gun, meaning 10 rounds total? Latter scenario seems more likely since I can’t load half a round!

The wiki is like…
2 bullets per shot (because each gun fires a bullet…)
and with 40 shots, that is 80 bullets in total.
each gun goes from 40 to 45 bullets if you are adding 5 bullets to each.

Which is 12.5% increase

If you look at it as one gun… 40 → 45, which is 12.5%

if you look at it as both guns, it is 80 → 90. which is 12.5%

We can keep adding guns, and the percentage increase doesn’t change

She has 20 shots in each gun, so 20+20=40. Adding 5 to each gun means 25+25=50. So 25% bigger mag.
