Tracer has literally zero counters at this point

Or is it the fact that anything which could counter tracer (such as damage mitigation or hard counters from the Support role) have been nerfed so much that Tracer is capable of running over any opposition?

Tracer is either a sleeper pick or overpowered, and she never gets nerfs because she’s the poster girl.

And before you mention Flashbang, I’m not sure a 10-second cooldown on one character who is susceptible to tracer is enough…

I look at it this way.

95% of players don’t have to worry about “OP Tracers”, because she’s a glass cannon, and they don’t have the skill to overcome the glass aspect.

The alternative for that top 5% if Tracer was a lot weaker, would be doublebarrier. And most the people in that top 5% would prefer OP Tracer over DoubleBarrier.

That’s the problem we’ve had for so long.

Anything that could counter Tracer reliably destroyed everyone else more because no one has the mobility that she has. Her mobility allows her to outplay everything.

They said she might need to be adjusted for OW2 since they are toning down CC overall.

It’s a choice between a strong Tracer or DoubleBarrier.

And most people in high ELO would prefer not playing DoubleBarrier.

McCree really isn’t a counter for Tracer especially the smart ones. She definitely needs a nerf

I am more interested in the devs plan for Tracer in OW2 since most cc is being removed or reduced.

Anything close to being a threat for Tracer is being removed.

The solution was to rework Tracer at the very beginning.

It’s a question of “Which option is more fun”, not “Is it technically possible to counter it”

I think they can deal with it. It’s just…not fun. It slows the gameplay a lot, removes a lot of the mind-games that you can play with people, and just becomes “who can break the barriers first and get Bap to use his immortality field first”

We’ll see what happens with OW2. So many heroes are being adjusted for it. Tracer just…can’t be exempt. Not with the massive reduction in CC - her only reliable form of counter. They won’t be able to whine if the adjustments were universal.

Depends how far back you go. Sure.

But the approach maybe 2 years ago, would be more like turning brig and Mei into Tanks, and nerfing the antidive on lamp

“Fun” is subjective. The game seems to be constantly rebalanced for “whatever is fun for Damage players” because they seem to be the most populous

“Fun” in population groups is a lot closer to objective.

The solution has never really changed. The correct move has always been to rework Tracer and rebalance the other heroes from there. That won’t happen though due to:

I think queue times speak for themselves in how DPS role is objectively a lot more fun than Tank for a much larger proportion of the playerbase.

Additionally if they want to get more Tank players, they are going to need to come primarily from the largest population group. I.e. DPS players.

The idea that they can just invent a bunch of new tank players out of thin air, or that increased playtime from a tiny portion of players would make a difference, is nonsense.

More like get rid of non-offtank Tracer counters, then lower Tracer.
