I’ve been playing tracer for a while now (i have 59 hours on her) and even if this hasn’t really happened many times it still bugs me so freaking much.
So like when you sometimes uses her blink ability to go forward she will, for some weird reason blink back to where she was before.
Like i just finished playing a game where i was playing tracer and they had a mccree on their team, so i decided to blink away from him to get away, but then i blinked back so the enemy mccree stunned me.
I decided to look at the kill cam, and from his pov i didn’t even blink at all.
I hope i could describe so you guys could understand, like has this ever happened to you while playing tracer? And why haven’t blizzard taken action to this yet.
I really love playing her, but when something like this happens it just becomes annoying and tracer becomes so unplayable.
Yep its server refresh rate and latency. Get used to getting stunned in your blink and rubberbanding back to where you blinked from. It’s the same thing when you get shot around a corner, trash servers that Blizzard wont spend their billions of dollars on to fix.
There is system in place in Overwatch called “Favor the shooter”, which is there to make the client more responsive. It basically allows a player to kill the representation of the enemy as it is displayed in his client. Now, since you are 50ms (your latency) away from the server and your enemy probably is something similar, you will, including server tick rate probably be something like 120 ms ahead of your representation on the enemy’s client. If in those 120 ms the enemy stuns or kills you, you will be affected, no matter what you did in the meantime, even if within what looks like proper time.
In other words, your enemy can stun or kill your 120 ms old shadow.
This forces you to play with a great deal of anticipation - premonition if you want. You have to foresee the stuns or the shots. You have to constantly move, because even if you think everything is safe, someone can peek out from a corner and shoot you 120 ms in the past, making it very dangerous to stand still for even a fraction of a second.
Make sure that your 120 ms old shadow is as hard to hit as possible with movement and cover.
PS:
This system also results in something called “peeker’s advantage”. It is a common problem in FPS’s. Look it up to get a better understanding of it, if what I write doesn’t make sense to you.
Bro explaining blizzard server issues like it’s 5d chess lmao.
Anyways, I find it really annoying because I know the limits of the characters and know when and how to engage/disengage, but blizzard just don’t care. Every time I play tracer I die just because get pulled from Narnia to wherever I initiated my blink. It also happens with Kiriko a lot when I legit see with my own eyes the white burst slowly forming into the shape of a flower and die a nanosecond later with my suzu not on cooldown lol.
I know I’m a bit late to respond, but I just wanted to cry and rant about how bad blizzard’s servers sometimes are, don’t mind me
