Torbjörns rivet gun still feels horrible

Should have made left click hit scan & right click as it is.

All other things being equal, hitscan is almost always better than projectile if you can aim the shots consistently, because hitscan can’t be dodged after the shot and thus has a much longer effective range.

Widowmaker’s ultimate is also better than Hanzo’s at that level, except when combined with Earthshatter or Graviton Surge to hold enemies in place. Old Hanzo was very often picked specifically on King’s Row, because Reinhardt and Zarya were almost always played there.

Torb secondary fire is great. His primary fire can be quite spammy, but he was always a closer ranged hero compared to Hanzo. With overload his primary is even great at shield break.

I don’t mind current Torb tbh.

His gun is fine. It feels weird because its a unique projectile with Arc. His Fire Rate and Ammo ae crazy good.

If you hate Torbs Primary never try Mei. Her’s has less ammo, more delay, and the only compensation is it has 5 more damage so you can one-shot Tracers and Baby D.Va’s

This game feels horrible, it’s not just Torbjorn.

Word. I wouldn’t care if they halved damage. Just lemme deal reliable damage from range.

Wait are you arguing for my case now…?

Are you kidding, Mei is amazing. Her projectile goes straight. It’s reeeaally easy to hit with.

I’m not really sure what your case is at this point.

It’s faster. Easy? It’s a projectile, subject to the downfalls of all projectiles, and her fire rate is almost twice as slow as Torbs.

It sounds like you just don’t like the arc which is actually one of the best features of his weapon. You can effectively kill people while being out of LOS in a lot of good spots. All you need to do is aim slightly above the head hitbox every 5ish M

Hanzo bow couldn’t switch into rapidfire shotgun mode on a whim, nor was it supplemented by an automatic turret.

Whoa whoa whoa! Whats this that his gun got better?!

The minor projectile speed boost had the same effevt as Hanzo’s projectile speed boost buff.

Unnoticed.

While it was nice, hanzo players still played the same and didn’t really have to adjust their playstyles or aim at all. So the effect was miniscule.

The same for Torb’s gun. You’re still rolling about randomly shooting at weird angles hoping something runs into tour primary fire is dumb enough to stand still for a close ranged secondary shot.

And please do not use his ten second cooldown Overload as an excuse that his weapon is good.

It is a ten second ability that too many rely on for damage when the buffs are once again miniscule compared to real mobility in other heros real survivability in other heros and realy reliable raw damage in weapons from other heros.

Which these picks have it consistently without having to rely on a selfish minor buff for damage survivability and meager mobility. Every. Ten. Seconds. Bleeeeh!

If you honestly think Mei’s m2 is harder to hit with than Tjorbs m1 then I think we’re so far apart, finding common ground would be an exercise in futility.

Yes, which is why you can never buff it to be as good as hanzo. I understand that. But I don’t want the weakness to be how damn wonky it is to shoot with.

Are you insane??? :DD Hanzos projectile speed buff was a HUUUGE deal. It’s the major thing in the hanzo buff patch that made him borderline OP. He’s almost hitscan at medium range now. That’s a massive buff.

they should give torb the best gun since he is a top engineer

It’s not bad. You just don’t know projectiles.

Projectile weapons are skill-based. Hitscan weapons take projectiles and remove 3/4ths of the skill requirements.

Hitscan is easier than projectiles.
Hitscan has always been easier than projectiles.
Hitscan will always be easier than projectiles.

I main Mei so landing her secondary is second nature to me at this point. Here’s my reasoning.

Torb has to simply aim slightly higher and lead his shots to land a reliable hit (plus he has more ammo to do it)

Mei has to aim at her target directly/lead her shots, fire the shoot, then flick her shot to compensate for the .38 second delay (as the icicle forms) after you pull the trigger.
You may not notice this by playing Mei a couple of games but when you play enough and have to duel Moira’s, Tracers, Genji’s, Doomfists (high mobile characters) this Delay can be very obvious.

But everyone finds different things difficult and if you truly find her Secondary easy to use then I suggest you try playing her more. She’s a beast when you master it.

Torb has a nice dmg output with his gun, he can aim pretty acurate to deal high damage with both versions, all he needs is skill.

Sym has a limited dmg, way to slow orbs and skill doesnt matter.

Projectiles have always been spammy. Everyone thinks of projectiles as spammy. And spam is not skilled. So your argument that projectiles take more skill is only half true at best in practice.

Only if you’re bad with projectiles.

His M1 is never going to be anything useful really.

You tag people at range for ult charge and that’s about it.

His damage mainly comes from his right-clicks.

His rework was so much appealing in that regards with his storm arrow ability and his new double jump.

The projectile speed went unnoticed because it is still a projectile weapon and is still much more clunkier than other weapons that don’t require the tracking or the judgement in distance to time a solid hit.

This type of behavior and typical gameplay did not change the weapon at all or how players think about the weapon. It only change the distance by a small margin.

Same thing with Torb’s weapon. You’re spamming away hoping to hit something.

This is dumb and I will tell you why. A good player knows when to spam and when to aim.

You think all Hanzo’s are just throwing arrows out randomly? No, they aim like hit scan then adjust their aim based on the distance and predicted movements of their enemy.

You shot where they are going to be, not where they are.

Hitscan- Twitch reflexes
Projectile-Prediction and arc/speed calculations

Both need to aim
