Torbjorn health buff and Overload nerf

On one hand, Torbjorn now has 250 hp, with 50 armor, which is strictly better than 200 hp.

On the other hand, Overload now only gives 100 armor instead of 150.
This means that Overload is just worse overall.

Kinda have mixed thoughts about that.

What do you guys think?

It’s a nerf overall to me. It feels easier to finish off Torb now.

Overload is better when putting on pressure but worse as a reflexive ability when under fire.

are you trolling?
like… they just made 50 of that health permanent.
So now torb has to rely less on it to survive.
And it still gives him 350 health using it.

This looks nothing like a nerf to me.
Do you even math?

I’m saying that Torbs using Overload as a health buffer will have less of a cushion than before.

His overall health being increased is a great change, but other than that I dont like it.

Nah, it just his 50 unrecoverable temporary health became recoverable constant

Idk to me it just doesn’t seem like it help his viability at all, especially after playing against him.

Again just my opinion.

50 of the health you could only have every now and again you now have all the time my heart bleeds for you.

What? Of course it’s a buff. 350 hp before and 350 hp after, except the additional 50hp can be healed.

It’s a flat buff except in that one extremely unlikely situation, where you have no healing, but take 101-150 damage every 12s or so. (I don’t actually know the cooldown of the ability.)

The logical extreme of this belief is that if all the Overload Armor was just made Torb’s natural health, it would be a nerf.

This change is a sidegrade at worst.

I’d call it a buff because torb has extra survivability not tied to a cooldown.

Soldier would kill for 50 additional armor. Well, he would if he could kill anything…

People aren’t using any common sense. It’s a straight buff. The time to kill him in most situations has went up at all times as opposed to the bursts of hitting the abilities.

This also protects him from a lot of one shots or burst damage that would kill a 200hp character. No Torb gets off overload all the times when they needed that 50hp to survive.

How long have you been playing torbjron?

are you trolling?

Stop throwing this around.

Torbjorn is now more reliant on heals, you’ll be asking for healing about 30% more often, and that’s if you don’t get banned for requesting healing so often.
Tunnel visioning supports will be even worse to put up with in games from now on.

In this thread, players who never play Torbjorn, to each its own i guess. :man_shrugging:

And what is why I have mixed feelings. Thanks for summing it up.

It looks like a buff but can’t help but laugh because they’re acting like torbjorn needs compensation nerfs for every buff he gets lol, why nerf what isn’t broken after all?

Overall its a buff.

He simply has more of his toughness available at all times.

He can now also be healed for this health where before he would not be able to restore it once lost.

There are some edge case scenarios where he is worst off but they should be outweighed by his general toughness improvement.

I think this change will actually make him feel better to play and play against.

I will definitely miss being able to summon 150 HP when I’m fighting with my last 10 HP but realistically if I’m in the same scenario after these changes I will be simply be summoning 100HP with my last 63HP.

i’d like to see its cooldown reduced by a second or two, but the current buff is fine

turret’s deployment could use a speed boost too

imho, a permanent increase to HP especially with it being Armour, which would mitigate damage versus an ability which provides a temporary buff and on such an obscenely long cool down, it is a good adjustment which better improves his survivability.

It still cannot beat the Armour Packs though, imho. I fondly remember the days when i would collect loads of scrap after a fight and just litter armour packs all over the place. Could not die.

Moreover, to me, Overload is more of a damage buff than just survivability and it should actually buff Torb’s turret as well. Ah well.
