Torbjorn > Hanzo

I argue Torb does things better and more consistently than Hanzo.

Arcing projectile but instant (Torb) vs draw time (Hanzo).

No slowdown when attacking (Torb) vs movement restriction when bow drawn (Hanzo).

Health, damage reduction and movement speed on demand (Torb) vs two escape abilities (Hanzo - lunge, wall climb). This is probably even or slightly in Hanzo’s favor.

Turret to guard backline or against flankers or for off-angling 1v1s (Torb) vs 5 quick arrows with a timer. Torb’s boosted mode is also a better shield breaker, IMO.

An ultimate that is not single cast and cannot be entirely eaten by DVa (Torb) vs a dodgeable and consumable ult (Hanzo). Molten Core also zones for much longer if I’m not mistaken.

Discuss.

Uh torb’s attacks are not instant. They are fairly fast I’ll give you that but it’s hardly instant and the arc gets more extreme at longer ranges. Hanzo also never has to reload and his draw time is not a requirement. You can spam low powered shots quickly if some one is in your face. Oh and never reloading is pretty huge.

Torb has potential and imo takes far more skill to do play well than Hanzo, especially after the rework and his turret being mostly a distraction that gets destroyed instantly every team fight.

As for ults there really is no comparison Hanzo’s is just better. Torb’s doesn’t really do much dmg on the first tick due to a 'feature/bug" of the first tick doing far less than the listed amount. I think it’s like 30? Giving people more than enough time to get out of the area in most situations. It also can’t go through walls, barriers etc and cross the map like Hanzo’s.

So while Hanzo’s can be eaten by Dva it’s a rare Hanzo that uses it close enough to Dva for it to be possible. Hanzo also in general charges Ult faster.

Hanzo is just dumb and his kit makes no sense. They didn’t decide his role - sniper or tank buster so they’ve made him both which resulted in him being unhealthiest projectile character in the game.
He has a 1 shot on primary on any non tank hero which needs no reload, only a small charge time and has super good speed. His arrows are almost silent (unlike other heroes) and their hitbox are wonky (there are vids showing how he hits the legs only for them to register at the head)
He has wallhacks which last for a long duration too. People can’t even know they are in his radius because they don’t give a detected message like how Sombra gets when she is revealed by walls. So if they happen to run in that area, they’ll most likely get 1 shot and return back to spawn.
He has 5 storm arrows which deal critical damage and get rid of his supposed “sniper” weaknesses. The damage they can deal varies from 350 to 700 in a matter of few seconds. These also help him in all 1v1s as well as hardcountering characters like Winston.
He has mobility with his leap, wallclimb and peak which also, again, get rid of his sniper weaknesses (other snipers have to stay still when firing their weapons).
His ult is super lethal when combined with Graviton Surge and guarantees a teamwipe. Even on its own, his ultimate is one of best zoning ones. Some even try to remove Bap’s IF so Hanzo can run even more rampant.
He is overall the definition of bloated character with very high rewards for low requirements and comparing him to Torbjorn is asinine.

Yes, there is a delay before Torb can shoot again. However, by instant, I meant he shoots at a click for a fixed amount of damage. It’s consistent.

When dueling, this is more reliable than aiming and praying like in Hanzo’s case.

This post aged well didn’t it?

I mean it’s really no different, if anything Hanzo is better because I believe the projectile speed of his arrows is higher than Torb’s rivets. It’s just kind of reversed really. Torb fires upon pushing a button, with about a half second delay between shots (and a hefty reload). Hanzo however does have a draw time if you want a power shot but it does fire the instant you let go.

The arc is a bit more extreme for hanzo but I think never having to reload combined with doing more dmg, to the point you can one shot a target compensates for that and then some.

I like Torb, I play him a lot but I gotta admit a good torb vs a good hanzo, the hanzo usually will do more for the team.

I don’t think Hanzo and Torbjorn are comparable because their roles and skills are vastly different. The only thing they have in common are that they both have arced projectile weapons. It’s really comparing apples to oranges.

aha, that is why he is an ultimate counter to all flankers with his turret. I don’t play torb, but ocassionaly pick him just to proove this point for myself, how broken is turret esp against tracers. Forces recall 10/10.

Don’t forget about Hanzo’s Wall climb for vertical movement, Sonic Arrow for Sombra, and Storm arrow for melting tanks. He’s the swiss army knife of snipers  :+1:!

Ugh, I don’t even know but the whole thought disgusts me. They both have ridiculously low skill floors, but I think Torb’s is lower.

I’m pretty biased though, as they are by far my most detested characters in game. So it goes, hating our counters and all that

Torb’s floor is lower, as you can get quite a bit of value out of his turret if nothing else and your enemies are too dumb to kill it. (many teams in lower ranks just ignore it…)

But I would say the ceiling for Torb is far harder to achieve than Hanzo. Hanzo is mostly just landing shots, good mechanical aim and all that.

Torb has far less mobility, harder to land shots and has to worry about Turret placement and management. Plus people just simply hate him. Not uncommon to be the “must kill” target for many enemy teams outside of support players.

until you see smurf accounts with big win% using torb then no way. smurfs love to pick the 1shot heros widow hanso doom + tracer or mcree. same with deathmatch while waiting for queue
