Torb vs Tracer discussion

Torb counters Tracer. Someone explain to me why this is good game design?

Why does the easiest character to play in the entire game counter the most difficult character to play?

Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

HARD WORK PAYS OFF

Seriously though, torb is so cheesy it’s unreal. So tired of seeing that dwarf in over 60% of my games at least. I wonder what his actual pick rate and win rate is in diamond and above, I feel like I see him all the time and that he is very op.

I seriously think they need to rework Torb into a character that takes skill to play as. Instead they leaned even harder into the turret.

Terrible choice Blizzard

They say Tracer is strong (A myth and a lie on most maps) yet like you said any well placed turret can literally completely shut her down and force her to switch and you have to depend on your team to kill the turret before you can do anything, yeah i agree Torb is horrible design and actually way over tuned right now.

you do know you can just swap to another hero then tracer right? maybe hanzo he counters thob or phara

That’s why I main his daughter and counter tracer that way…

Scandinavian Style? No. It has to be Lindholm Style!

Torb is pretty much meta right now (assume he’ll get a small nerf mid season ) so swapping isn’t always the play

Learn from the great Peter Bosz. When asked what plan b was, he answered “do plan A better”

Tracer has one of if not the highest skill CEILINGS.

She’s easy to play and broken out of the box if you have a lot of previous shooter experience. Her skill floor is way way lower than people claim.

three teleports on 3 sec cd, one bog rewind tp that heals on a quarter minute cd?!

if you find that ‘hard’ i don’t know what to tell you except play other shooters and get proficient at them, then come back to the discussion.

man, if you torb alone forces a switch you should just not ever play Tracer.

you can play Tracer into Sym and Torb and do fine. Just shift playstyle a touch.

If you’re playing in low ranks, which you wouldn’t be with a lot of prior experience in shooting games. It is pretty ridiculous how strong Torb is in comparison to her right now and that’s not even up for debate. Though that has less to do with Tracer and more to do with Torb being busted

uhm… hero shooters play way differently than arenas or BRs…

Mechanical skill isn’t everything, lol.

i’m sorry Torb’s turret give’s you so much trouble. maybe with some practice you’ll learn to counter it without so much frustration

Is he really though? He’s better than he has been for sure but outright busted? Not sure my man.

Doesn’t matter. Good mechanics get you to Diamond minimum.

It’s funny that y’all always resort to skill insults despite being bad yourselves. You crutch on a turret. I one tricked a hero to the top within three seasons of starting. You’re Silver. We are not the same, buddy, and it might be a good idea to private your profile on Overbuff.

Moreover, the turret is only the cherry on top of the stupidity in the rest of his kit. I never even mentioned it specifically, yet you brought it up. Almost like you need the game to play itself for you because you’re garbage.

Very much so yes.

His winrate on Overbuff is 63%. And while Overbuff isn’t fully accurate, the trends it shows are real. Then there’s also the fact that he’s in almost every game right now at the top…

People play what is good. And if Torb is good among all of these broken heroes like Sojourn, he’s broken too. That’s not up for debate.

nope.

good positioning is the #1, king of the hill, do or die aspect of this game. a close second and third is target priority and situationL awareness.

you have to learn how to actually play hero shooters before you can pop with mechanical skill.

0.82% pick rate in GM, 3rd lowest of any character (only Venture and Mauga lower) - come on dude.

He’s not in broken territory.

Edit
Mercy with a whopping 8.90 pick rate and 53.68% win rate. Maligned Ana at 7.86 PR and 48.32% WR for comparison. Interesting.

Torb is far from the easiest player in the game. His primary is probably the hardest primary fire to hit. His turret is a stationary target that is easy to destroy. His saving grace is he’s hard to kill.

You have to kill Tracer twice. She has barely had any adjustments for the entire life of OW 1 and 2, which shows how good she’s been since launch.

Yep. You’ve never reached it, so why do you think you have the right to tell ME that I’m wrong?

But that is demonstrably false, as he’s, again, in every other game. If you don’t believe me, tune into a high ranked stream :man_shrugging:t4:

Any hero contending with Sojourn is broken.

LOL no

It has a 40 meter range and can be placed so high up that close range heroes basically can’t damage it at all. Have fun trying to break it on Reaper.

Funny way of saying that he literally has the HP of a Tank.

And the tradeoff for that is the fact that one headshot forces her to use her survivability cooldown or just outright kills her. One shot from most guns puts her in one shot territory, headshot or not. What’s Torb’s tradeoff to Cree level damage at range that only gets faster when he presses E, a better shotgun than Reaper, a Tank health pool, and a secondary damage source that applies the DPS passive with zero user input?
