Too many new Female Supports?

If we only count OW1 post-launch characters, what we have so far:

Female Supports: Ana → Moira → Brigitte → Kiriko → Illari

Male Supports: Baptiste → Lifeweaver

I’m actually happy with Lifeweaver, a warm nurturing figure like Mercy instead of another tough soldier / warrior persona type because men can be nurturing as women. But it feels like wasted due to his clunky gameplay and less impactful but rather situantional kits. Lifegrip can cause misunderstandings like Mei wall, his Tree of Life doesn’t feel like a strong defensive ult compared to Sound Barrier, Transcedence, Rally.

They stated post-launch heroes. Did you miss the lack of Mercy, Zen, and Symmetra as well?

Because that’s the only way to get their point across without looking stupid.

I can say “Look at all the female DPS they are adding to the game since OW2!” and make it seem like 100% of new DPS are females.

Use your brain and consider that in total there are 4 male and 6 female supports which is the only number that actually matters.

My post was in response to the user who deleted their post. It originally said “they forgot about Lucio”. I don’t really care either way about this argument, I think it’s a dumb topic in any case. Who actually cares about the gender distribution of heroes across a role? Trying to meet an arbitrary quota for the sake of not pissing anyone off poisons the well. As it is, every support so far has some sort of immediate story relevance except for Illari and to a lesser extent Kiriko. And I’m sure when they shove another content update more than a year from now out there’ll probably be more for them on that front anyway.

I simply want more villains in the support roster regardless of gender.

I’m tired of tough Soldier or Brute guys. Sooner we’ll get another Brute (Mauga).

I don’t care about gender, I just want my characters to look cool. In a way, it’s a relief that LW feels crappy to play as (imo) and nobody likes him on their team, because I don’t have the Cleric skin.

What’s wild is that most of the men are pushovers and most of the women have passive aggressive/boss girl personalities.

Pandering to a liberal narrative in hopes they will spend money on your skins.

They brought in these zelennial WOKE people who really have no real expericence as Devs or playing this game. I look at who they have on staff and have no idea who these people are and why they dig them up just to create an agenda that really alienates us. There is no way that looking at the ages of these people that they are even close to being skilled enough to truly improve or know the workings of this game. They put these fakers in front of a camera and there you go. If you take a close look at what is going on in most cases (more often than not) you wont see these people in a year or even 3 years from now.

They create female characters because blizz wanted to escape the scrutiny of what went down in that big lawsuit. I for one do not believe that it was as bad as they say it was because a lot of these feminist hires will jump up and claim stuff simply because they can’t get promoted. Who knows what happened? Yet you get a lot of female this and female that and this is primarily played by males.

Again, show me 1 statistic that breaks down the percentage of female players vs male players in this game to where it is even JUSTIFIED to have this much female representation in the game? Who are they trying to please? WOKENESS?

Overall, there is nothing WRONG with having female heroes but this game is far too on the side of ‘warm moments’ and “hugs and cutes”. Its really getting sad to the point where can you even be a guy anymore and play a game for guys? You can hate what I am saying but before you get emotional just think about the facts.

GUYS got Overwatch to where it is as far as sales. I GURANTEE you that if the stats came out and they posted it I SERIOUSLY doubt that females even make up 30% of the player base of this game. That is being generous too. I REALLY, REALLLLLLLY doubt that pandering to a group that doesn’t play the game as much as the guys makes sense.

Its business. If you know you who your target market is, then why not market to them? Yet the GUYS on this forum are just slobbering to have ANYTHING to the point where there is no unified stand from the guys saying HEY we want some Testosterone in this game. You all think gamers are just fat guys who don’t work out and never have relations and eat snacks and live in basements of their parents are all that make up this game’s supporting players?

Fact, if it wasn’t for the fact that a majority of the women on twitch playing this game didn’t get attention for it they wouldn’t be doing it. HATE ME for saying but other than the benefit or promoting THEMSELVES hoping to be looked at wearing a low cut top playing overwatch what do they have truly invested in this game?

Do you see them ever truly supporting guys who want content that reflect truly more of what they want? No.

NONE of you truly understand the power of the dollar as a collective effort. If you did this game would not have players like Reaper dumped on who is clearly the only real male character left on this game with some serious image to him that makes him worth playing. You present a product that talks about WAR and all this with Omics but OH NO, can’t use Reaper.

Then you get backstories of tears and hugs and all this smiley crap with a MONKEY like Winston overused? What in the hell is going on here really? A freaking gorrilla is the main character you push more than any male character on the game again destroying our hopes as guys to have content we can truly relate to.

Any guess why some games that offer so much destruction really are more popular with guys than overwatch? Until the devs understand that being a guy isnt wrong we all are never going to see what we should see.

I personally don’t care about gender or the frequency of how often said genders are displayed, more demonstrations of strong colored women is a positive in my book.

Sad but true. Just like why some Life is Strange fans were unhappy when a Male protagonist was introduced but in fact there’re like three Female protagonists against one Male.

Cassidy’s short may prove you wrong since he literally solo’d an entire gang led by an angry boss woman. Heck, Cassidy was even holding back from injuring / killing them, meanwhile Ashe wanted him dead.
