Today's matchmaking and why you should leave

Loss - Completely stomped
Loss - Completely stomped
Loss - Completely stomped
Loss - 10 kills across the team to the enemies 40+
Win - Stomped the enemy team
Win - Close game
Loss - Actually a really close match, came down to overtime with a Cassidy vs 76
Loss - Completely stomped

Remind me why I shouldn’t just leave again? If it is a clear stomp and MM is clearly broken, why shouldn’t I protest it and leave? If the game is really close, win or lose I love it and I will always stay because it is a close even match. But, those matches are so damn far between. I have limited time, I’m not wasting it on broken MM.

You should. Until they fix Matchmaking

But they got some sort of Matchmaking fixes coming out this week. Maybe as soon as tomorrow at 11am PST.

Well hopefully things will improve. It’s not even like it’s been just today. since the start of season 3 it’s been trash. I don’t know if they did some stealth changes but MM is the worst I’ve ever seen it.

If it helps I’ve been bugging them about matchmaking issues in OW2 since beta…

How come I never experience these constant stomps? I can play 10 ranked matches and maybe 2 will be a stomps (and I’m on the winning side as much as the losing).

If you’re getting stomped every game maybe it’s time to look in the mirror.

I have seen complete and total stomps in round 1 change after a few character switches to a 1-2 comeback outcome.

I don’t think the matchmaking is great, but I also think that the issue is at least partially the 5v5 format making situations where one team just utterly destroys another team much more frequent due to team composition than when it was 6v6.

I think these utter destructions demoralise a team and lead to snowballing as players tend to give up if they feel it’s hopeless.

I mean, I refuse to waste my time. If I see a bad tank pairing with even worse support pairs (Like a Mercy+Lucio), I just leave.

I’ll take the loss in exp, better than ending up raging and getting my account suspended.

It’s really bad again. Like beginning of OW2 bad again. So frustrating.

No, the issue is that matchmaking sucks.

I literally just got out of placement, placed in low gold, and then went up against a Top 500 Reinhardt on the enemy team. Are you telling me that happened because of 5v5 format? No, it happened because matchmaking sucks.

But that is the issue, I’ve been on the stomping side and the stomped. When I support I’m consistently the last man standing with the most heals. On DPS I tend to have the most elims and near highest damage. Sure I have my off days and there is a lot more I can learn but there is something wrong when the highest I ever climbed was Plat and I’m somehow against people with Masters challenger or Top 500 challenger titles.

well, as long as YOU’VE been bugging them it;s all OKEYDOKE and Rainbows. Thanks for all the hardwork you do for us.

NOT!

Define stomp. Are these all 1-0 matches where one team could barely get out of spawn? Or are these 3-1/3-2 matches where one team is more clutch in key fights?

Stats don’t tell the whole story. You can have less damage than your other DPS and still have secured more important elims. You have have less heals then your other support and still be more impactful.

Those titles don’t mean anything. What role were they masters on? They could be playing an off role that they aren’t good at. They could have hit masters for one season and been plat or diamond every other season. Not every masters challenger is a god.

No you went up against someone with a top 500 title. That doesn’t mean that they are top 500 in the role that they were playing at the time, gold players can’t even play with anyone higher than diamond. The limit is 2 rank categories in either direction.

Just finished a game. MM decided I’ve been stomped enough tonight so now it’s my turn to stomp.

My team:

Ramatra 20 elims
Ashe 23 elims
Sombra (me) 20 elims
Moira 17 elims
Lucio 15 elims

Enemy team:
Orisa 12 elims
Bastion 8 elims
Mei 9 elims
Moira 6 elims
Ana 6 elims

It’s like seal clubbing and it just isn’t fun.

Gave it another shot this past week after i heard they made “fixes” to mm.

I uninstalled today after hearing a 9 year old on the mic that literally couldnt hit his leftclicks on ashe. Diamond btw.

If they have any desire to fix this circus. They NEED to completely reset the ranks and start people off at the bottom.

Straight up unplayable

I think it’s worse, honestly. Suddenly, the game turned unplayable for me. I have no idea what these developers did, but they managed to destroy their already broken matchmaker.

That’s a BS copout. You think they’re Top 500 with one role but suck with all the others?

I’d like some transparency on how / why the match making is doing what it’s doing, and more info on what’s being changed.

These are matches were we don’t even take first point, get consistently decimated in team fights on push so they just roll it to the end or just a flat 2-0 on cap maps. If it is balanced or a challenge I will stay. But when I have team mates who trickle one by one even when I’m on comms asking to group up, there is no coming back from that.

I know stats don’t tell everything. When I’m on junk rat I’ll have relatively low damage but a lot of elims. I know stats aren’t everything.

Also the whole top 500 meaning nothing is, no offense, BS. A top 500, regardless of the role they are playing, will have more game knowledge and mechanical skill than a plat player. Flats on support will be infinitely better than a random plat player. He has the knowledge, experience, mechanical skill, map awareness etc etc that plats simply do not have. Sure they may not be top of their game because it’s off role but their off game is still miles above my A-game.

I am in Masters on one role, I am in Gold on another. Yes I do think people can be good at one thing but bad at another.
