To unlock ALL skins in the game will cost:

So, in OW1, it took me about 500 hours of on-and-off play to unlock every cosmetic for every hero, bar the ones from the Anniversary remakes in the final year. OW2’s system by comparison, is truly disgusting.

  • In this game, there are 333 legendary skins, 98 epic skins, and 136 rare skins. Legendaries at 1900, epics at 1000, and rares at 300 each, respectively. I have not counted the battlepass skins, but I shall add their price at the end.

  • To unlock every skin, you need 771500 overwatch tokens. Purchasing the 11600 coins pack for £84.99, 67 times, gives you enough tokens. That total is £5694.33, or about $6400 dollars. Presuming that American ingame purchases are $99.99, it’s roughly $6700 in reality.

  • This is only for skins. When I got to this amount of money I didn’t even bother adding up every other cosmetic. But if I was to guess, a new player unlocking everything (considering the game’s pricing and the amount of cosmetics) you’d be looking at nearish $8000 to do so.

  • There is an upside! To unlock everything (as I did in OW1) as a free to play player… 12858 weekly challenges without missing one. Or about 248 years of gametime.

EDIT cause some of yall in the comments are so ridiculous: I’m not saying “go out and spend all this money on all the cosmetics.” What I’m saying is that each hero (be it your main or a fun one) is going to cost you almost 240 bucks to complete the full set of unlocks. EVEN IF you only buy the skins you like, it’s the fact that you have to spend money WITHOUT EVEN THE OPTION TO REALISTICALLY EARN THEM to use them is horrible.

60 tokens a week is taking you over 7 MONTHS to earn a legendary is predatory and disgusting. We were able to earn them once, let’s not leave that feature in the past.

Then don’t unlock everything. Geez, how hard is it to control your spending?

The fact that I could unlock all of them (even the ones I don’t like) by purely having fun without even thinking of it instead of pulling out my wallet for a fancy skin I might use for a bit, shows how apathetic yall are towards all of this.

Why do you want to spend money on something you do not use regularly? Curate what you want. Stop whining about something you will not use.

you cant unlock sh*t anymore. stop living in the past.

How sad. Meanwhile games like DBD have unlocks left, right and centre. At least the challenges don’t take 5 weeks of gametime to unlock a basic blue skin.

Just simply unlocking it is enough. In the game of so many heroes, why stick to one hero and their cosmetics when you can flex between them, have fun on all the chars and actually earn rewards for them, rather than paying at every corner?

I’m only spending money on Hanzo, Tracer, Reaper, Kiriko, Baptiste, Soldier 76, and Reinhardt cosmetics. Literally just get stuff for the heroes you actually play.

And that’s how we lose to the predatory money system y’all are happily defending.

then go and play those lol. overwatch no longer is for ppl like you who want to collect skins like pokemons for free

No one individual is going to bust out their wallet and buy every single skin (unless you’re filthy rich and can afford to throw away money like that). However, Blizzard will make that amount plus more because everyone combined will have bought everything. I can tell you I’m not that big a fan of Brig or Zen, but someone out there is and will buy up everything available.

Gomenasai mister mora-sama for spending money on things I invest my time in. :disappointed_relieved:

I can’t believe someone is actually defending predatory monetization practices.

Wait, yes I can, because we live in actual bizzaro world.

Yeah, I would enjoy the skins if I had them, but I ain’t buying them. 10$ for blue Baptiste is more about just collecting than absolutely loving it. I’ll just use the mythic skins as they come now.

I can’t wait for Viva La Dirt League to start making videos about his game

Overwatch 1 skins being expensive can be seen as a good thing. You feel more exclusive and valuable when you use them. So if you already had a lot of them that you earned from the original game then you can look at it as a reward for being a player of the original game.

You are right, but I’m also thinking about the future and all the poor souls who actually want to invest time in the game, earn stuff and enjoy the rewards. Me walking around like a billboard for Blizzard’s microtransactions is the opposite of what I want lol.

I do like owning the Doomfist Thunder skin though. So glad I watched streams xD

This just get stuff you like and for your mains

How many times do we have to go through this? I was glad this topic was gone for a time… its boring, we cant change it and neither influence it. The only thing we can do is not buy it!
