To be honest why is this a free game

since the release of overwatch 2 and it being free ive seen so much more toxicity than in any other game yes that includes you LoL

Because the f2p model is what makes the most money right now.

It’s no coincidence that nearly every multiplayer game out there is F2P with cosmetic/buffs paid.

Unless they can get away with charging full price. Call of Duty is a premium title despite it functioning like a free to play. :joy:

It’s still not as bad as LoL.
But it is getting close.
Because free to play. And game popular.
That’s about all it takes.

because developers hate overwatch, hate how made people happy and killed the game to make a shop update

The fp2 is runing the game, just because people can play it doesnt mean they should. We’re being flooded by people who dont have basic motor functions

Because they fixed their problem by removing chat with the enemy team.

It’s coming to gamepass enjoy budget f2p

Others just can’t match cod budgets they spent a billion making last cod

It’s free because nobody would actually pay for it.

Because money.

OW2 had nothing of value so they just made it f2p.

As much as toxicity goes, it is a design issue. Games that depends too much on teamwork are doomed to be toxic.

It’s ā€œfreeā€ because now they don’t need to make ANY new content (literally this season we got no new hero, no new anything but some BS zero assets hero mastery crap… recycled disused or swapped hero abilities in some dumb arcade mode) but essentially a NOTHING burger so they can sell us like 15 new skins for 10 to 50 bucks a pop each?

Why on earth if you owned this game would you bother spending a dime on a team to create new content / beta test it / market it etc when instead you can commission like 2-3 actually new skins for some starving artist wages and just have them recolor a dozen old skins to sell for 10x what you would have made anyways?

that’s my answer, tell me I’m wrong :stuck_out_tongue:

Imagine paying to get treated like we do

Because companies are greedy and like to follow trends… thing is the quality of the game suffers with no barrier to entry. worse players flooding the game. there is a STARK difference from OW1 to OW2 with quality of matches and it isnt all the matchmakers fault(tho that is garbo too)

One word ā€œMoneyā€ … Ok

I will never understand the need to buy games like CoD and Fifa. They could literally pass as minor patch updates to the existing game…

Why not? F2P games allow to make calculating your spending more complicated, effectively charging customers more money. And you can’t be accused of being greedy either, since your game is, technically, free.

People love cosmetics, and it sells. Though a small charge on the front end could possibly help prevent smurf and banned accounts, with certain matching paying credentials (minimal effect). Also, less accountability for the current cheating problem. Less need to provide support for something that is free. If there isn’t an exchange of money, there is no need for the provider to fulfill a ULA/TOS, as there are no losses. If I were a business I would always take a small loss on the front end, to have more flexibility or control.
