Sombra isn’t OP, its just the fact that you guys have absolutely no idea how to deal with her because nobody played her up until now.
Sombra is one of the least picked heroes in the game, and is also one of the heroes who doesn’t exactly even have a respectable win rate.
She has tickle damage, with a huge spread, she is utility based, and not your standard DPS. One can argue that she is more of a Support then a DPS.
I still very much get bullied all the time for picking up Sombra in comp, as she is very much regarded as a troll pic.
The problem that you encountered is the fact that she got very slightly more popular because of the OW league. You have seen what PROS can do with her, and now you are complaining as if she is the most played hero in the game.
The job of a Sombra is not to kill you, its to annoy you. She is a disrupter, she is oppressive, not overpowered. A Sombra’s job is to create chaos within a team, and constantly give a very high psychological pressure so she can create space for her teammates.
Like a Tracer, but with like 10 times less damage and 5 times less mobility.
A Sombra is an EXTREMELY hard hero to master.
She requires extremely good timing and decision making skills, complex strategy and approach, extremely good communication, a very advanced muscle memory and reflex system, and because of her terrible damage, she really has to know what fights to pick and has to make sure that her tracking and aim is absolutely perfect for her to be able to do anything.
Her hack is extremely easy to cancel. You just have to sneeze on her basically.
And if she hacked you, that means that she outplayed you or that you weren’t paying attention.
And to top it all of, a Sombra’s job is ALWAYS hard because she has to fight 2 teams: the enemy team, and her own team for blaming her and tilting off the face of the Earth whenever THEY fail to follow up on an EMP
**A Sombra is an extremely high skill but also high reward hero. **
Not everyone can start playing Sombra and be good with her.
There are Sombra who are good enough that can DOMINATE the entire match, and then there are the Sombras that you dont even notice, and effectively turn a 6v6 into a 6v5.
Its the same as Widowmaker. She either has 46 shots and 1 kill, or she single-handedly wipes entire teams by herself.
I suggest to all of you to just wait a little until the OW league passes. The hype for Sombra will die down, and the pick rate of Sombra will go down to. Only a handful of Sombra mains will pop up but that’s about it.
If you wanna see some other REALLY OP heroes, I would like to redirect your attention to:
- Hammond who is much more disrupting then Sombra with his stuns, boops, pile-drives, CCs, absurd amount of damage, mobility and durability for a tank.
- Junkrat, he is actually a sleeping giant.
- Hog with his hock = instant death. But i don’t want to complain about him because I know that he also struggled a lot in the past
- HANZO - I cannot stress enough how absurdly OP he is with his spam, arrows the size of logs. And you dont even see from where he is even shooting, unlike with Widowmaker for example
- Doomfist but again, I really dont want to complain about him because he also struggles a lot. I believe that with the new buff yesterday that he is the closest to he has ever been to not being broken but still being useful
- Phara who can be extremely oppressive, but only under the right conditions

Torbjorn - his turret will instantly lock on Sombra as soon as she gets out of stealth so she wont be able to hack anyone. And it also kills her Translocate

Symmetra - surprisingly a smart Symmetra is a very good counter to a Sombra. She can perfom constant “spy checks” with her laser, and she can also spread our her turrets around her team in a defensive constitution. The great area coverage would discourage Sombra from being aggressive

Mei, again, she can “spy check” and Mei is deadly even without her abilities

Junkrat, he doesn’t rely on his abilities that much, and can be extremely strong against Sombra

Soldier 76, even when hacked, Sombra cannot match his damage output

Mercy (yes, you heard me) Mercy’s mobility is removed by Sombra’s hack, but not her self healing or damage, nor does it shut down the Valkyre, and she has a huge advantage of having a too small of a hitbox for Sombra to pin down. If the Mercy has good enough aim, she can easily out-damage a Sombra, and force her to retreat

Reaper - she can hack him, but thats about all that she can do. Unless she can get some headshots in, he will be able to outdamage her thanks to his greater damage, self heal, and greater hp pool. They are both short to medium range heroes. Obviously Reaper has the advantage

So please. I keep seeing all these “nerf Sombra” or “rework Sombra” posts…STOP IT!
She is an extremely hard hero to master, but also extremely fun.
She doesn’t need any nerfs, she doesn’t need buffs, she doesn’t need reworks. You just didnt know how to deal with her.
