Couldn’t agree more, with the exception of Rein. The tedium of shooting Rein’s barrier all games makes it a snoozefest. I’ve never understood Sigma. I like to play him but he is the most frustrating tank. As you say, any other tank can just walk right through his barrier and kill him unless your other tank is covering him. Against Zarya he is a complete throw pick and since half the games are Rein/Zarya that’s a problem. Again Rein’s shield his damage is too puny and if Rein gets even a sniff of him with his swing there is no escape. He is missing something the other tanks have with his tank matchups - a bit more mobility perhaps to retreat quicker.
I think barriers are an essential part of the game as long as they don’t exist in an oppressive way. Overwatch gets really stale really quickly if all you are doing is shooting barriers, so they have to exist in a way that doesn’t force players to do this. At the moment, it seems as though we are drifting back towards shooting shields all the time, so they should probably be addressed in some way.
So in other words: I’m totally down for any hero other than my main because I refuse to switch and don’t want to take efforts learning other characters, so therefore everyone but dva gets the nerf hammer. That’s not how balancing works dude
They should revert arrow damage but reduce it to 3 arrows.
I don’t want barriers nerfs overall, but I think that they should nerf Sigma’s barrier into the ground and rework the rest of his kit to fit the off-tank role. He’s the single reason why we can even consider degenerating our gameplay down to double barriers which was never the issue before his release and every time a team tried to run it they more or less failed. The only exception to this is Orisa/Rein/Lucio/Bapo76, but that comp works so different from other double barrier comps and is so sub-optimal that it’s hardly an issue unlike Sigma/Rein or Sigma/Orisa
Tank meta was at it’s peak pre-Sigma’s release but post role queue and would’ve been near perfect with slight nerf to Orisa’s halt and the D.va/Winston buffs that came afterwards with all the duo comps being very much viable depending on the map. Sigma’s release ruined the whole role for half a year and even when the situation was fixed it came at the expense of other tanks which is something I’m still mad at the devs for
Barriers being a problem? Switch to Junk or Reaper. (+Echo)
If devs cared about queue times, you’d think they’d make the least played class, play more like the most played class.
At that point, classes are irrelevant. Every class is just trying to be like one class, so really there’s just a variety of dps characters.
Like an RPG, but the only class you can be is a Warrior. No White or Black Mages, or anything else.
Good thing is this an FPS, not an RPG.

No. Its a class based Moba FPS. The classes are important.
I said “like” an RPG because roles are important to both.

Everything that’s not FPS is flavoring.
But every time the game leans too heavy on MOBA/RPG stuff, you get things like GOATs or DoubleBarrier.
Bastion and Junkrat.
Both are throw picks above silver.
Nerf barriers, because it has been well demonstrated that buffing either of them just leads to whining.
Same here with hammond
Im a Support only player and Double Shields are literally killing the game.
Having an Offtank is a liability.
Not playing Burst Dps is throwing.
Not playing a Burst Healer is throwing.
This is all caused by Double Shields. So no, it isnt “Whiny Dps mains can’t handle Shields >:^(”

No, its not flavoring. Its what puts OW in its genre. Saying that the hero elements in OW is flavoring would be like saying the RPG elements in Dark Souls is just added fluff. That’s wrong.
Besides, didn’t I explain to you why I don’t like your ideas? Something about you saying you’ve “talked” about tank balance changes for 6 months, and i said that means nothing to me since I’ve actually been working on tanks for 6 months?
All of your ideas can be summed up to “lets strip the hero shooter parts from OW so it can be more FPS like”, and I’ll continue to tell you that’s a bad idea even if they implement it into this game. At that point, you don’t have OW anymore.
Besides, didn’t I explain to you why I don’t like your ideas?
Because you did some UE4 Modeling, and that makes you think you know the first thing about game design?
Because you did some UE4 Modeling, and that makes you think you know the first thing about game design?
How in the world should I answer this? It sounds like a trick question.
Should I just say “yes” since that’s technically correct? Yes, since I’ve had hands on experience in game development, I think I’d know at least the first thing about game design.
I didn’t just do some modeling. I’ve done and am still doing everything the devs for OW did to make a game just like OW. I really do know, at least, the first thing about game design.
Trust me greyfalcon does actually know some game design, blizzard listened to his ideas and put them in game
Mostly when I realized you don’t care in the slightest about queue times, and you put out the idea that buffing explosives against barriers is how you solve DoubleBarrier.
When any competent developer would instantly dismiss that idea as it would instantly melt single barrier.
My guess is you’ve never actually designed for a multiplayer game with any meaningfully sized playerbase.
