To all the aggressive tanks

It’s always easy to blame the tank. It’s a classic, like blaming the goalkeeper when the whole team miserably failed.

That’s why I gave up on tanks for good (except Hammond, he is the only tank I keep playing). It feels like a boring CHORE while everybody else is having fun or not giving a damn about how much you’re struggling to push.

It’s not even satisfactory like doing damage or healing a teammate. Doesn’t feel rewarding (don’t you forget this is a damn videogame…)
The solo-q main tank experience feels miserable too many times. No wonder why the queues are that bad.

I feel kinda guilty since I quitted tanking. Everytime I see a fellow Reinhardt struggling for me and my team, dying over and over again trying to protect us… It hurts. It hurts because I know the frustrating experience he is going through.

Whether you are an agressive or a passive tank player: Thank you buddy, we do appreciate what you do for us.

I don’t get it. This is a thing only in 2 cp defense.

My friend once said that there are 2 types of tanks. Ones can’t press W, others can’t press S.

don’t you just love it when both supports decide to sit on the payload. how considerate of them :slightly_smiling_face:

Do y’all get triggered when youre playing Rein.
You’re barrier dancing. You arent getting healed very well.
Your barrier is at sub-100 health. You yourself are at like 200 health.
You’re in a no-win scenario, all you can do is go for a Hail Mary charge to hasten your own demise while hopefully taking someone out with you.
And then some DPS says…
“Idiot Rein just charges in.”.

Better yet, being like 20 HP as Zarya and not getting healed at all by a healer that’s literally looking at you. I played Zarya the other day and had a Zen staring at me whe I was on critical HP, and instead of healing me he was pocketing our Valking Mercy who was all fine and dandy and behind cover but healing someone that didn’t need healing and was way out of my reach vertically. I eventually died because neither of them healed me despite me asking for healing several times, and I almost punched my monitor. It’s moments like this that made me hate playing tanks.

This kind of crap gets me fuming. I can’t even count the amount of times I had a good push going but both supports stayed on the payload and we lost control of the payload because of it.

Right? Like it’s a fight. Let’s apply pressure (I mean responsibly but you should go in roaring to fight)

The only time I can justify one playing passively is if they’re waiting for something very specific to happen (e.g. waiting for someone on the enemy team to make a positional mistake so you can easily go in punish them, waiting for a Doomfist/Ball to stun them and mess up their cooldown rotation, etc.). If you’re playing passively because you can’t look at the killfeed or simply can’t understand that standing at the choke for 9 hours isn’t the way to go, just avoid me ahead of time. I’d much rather wait 10 mins for a decent match than wait 2 and get a sh*tshow.

Ya man, I think I’d call that playing conservatively more than passively as playing passively in that point and time has a reason strategically…

I feel you man i just play widow now

Several tanks have this issue. I was playing my usual Orisa and my team would not group up or heal me and before you know it I was playing super defensive.

Problem is tanks don’t tend to do well when played passively so we lost that game bad.

Had to play Hog a few games to get my head straight and remember not all healers and teams are like that.

My part is when I get a double environmental kill pushing Hog and Lucio off the map with me. WORTH IT!

Yooooooooooo why is it when people are anti’d they automatically seem to wanna walk forward faster lmao, like where was that when you weren’t anti’d?!

A frisky Rein gets my Lucio blood pumping :open_mouth:

Yeah, mobility is king right now.

If you were Reining, then I can understand.

Every time I go against a Rein comp, my Winston just runs circles around them.

Rein is too slow. Reaper is too slow.

Once I learned how to “feel” the space I was creating, tanking just became so fun.

If you can “feel” space. Then you can manipulate space.

If I was Reining, I probably won’t have as much fun.

There are just so many things you can’t control with a static tank.

I can’t always trust my team to contest high ground.

I can’t always trust my team to kill Mercy, then Pharah.

I can’t always trust my team to peel for our healers.

I can’t always trust my team to apply backline pressure to the enemy.

But I can do all those myself as Winston or D.Va.

And I can usually trust my team to win a 5v4 if I take a 1v2 behind enemy lines.

After 4 years hardstuck (but having fun) in Gold & then Plat, I just hit Diamond for the first time solo in RQ.

Hit Season High and Career High last night.

Tanking is fun.
