I feel your pain. I’m high plat on tank and mid diamond on support but mid-high gold on DPS. I hate the fact that one of my roles are in gold so recently I’ve been trying to rank up.
I consistently get gold damage and elims but it doesn’t matter how much I frag out if my team is bad. I feel like previously, it was very easy to carry as DPS but now it’s so much easier as a tank.
I have thought maybe I was playing bad and it was my fault but looking as I have 70% weapon accuracy on Mccree, I wouldn’t say I’m the reason. It’s just been so frustrating to do so well but be dragged down by your team.
Just as a note, medals don’t mean much of anything.
For example, Widow starts every fight with 2 headshots, instantly killing both supports on the enemy team, does nothing else. Widow carries. Even with only 400 damage and 2 kills, Widow is hard carrying.
Oh, you think it is too high. That is entirely possible though. He stated he was high plat on tank and mid diamond on support. If he is lower ranked than he belongs, 70% is feasible. I can get 70% if I am playing in gold lobbies.
You think it’s bad now, wait until you don’t have gold elims for even half a second. At that point the Moira who spends more time in the enemy backline than your own is going to come in over comms and screech “DpS aReN’t KiLlInG tHiNgS, uSeLeSs TrAsH” and your whole team will dog pile on you and report you for throwing. Fun times.
Our Mercy complained the DPS didn’t do enough damage, to which I told her I had gold damage, then she said “5K DAMAGE STILL ISN’T GOOD” to which I explained to her that I had 15k [I was playing Mccree and Soldier 76].
The side funny thing is when I, a bap/ana when barely leaving MY team’s backline got half of the final blows or got gold elims and still keeps tanks alive, some dps would be screaming healers dpsing while they wander around while team 5v6 and the other dps trying his best to compensate for the other.
These kinda people behave the same on every role.
When they obviously are less than their rank and thinks they aren’t, they find excuses.
Actually gonna add some of my experiences on that. I admit not being the utmost best player in case of arguments incoming.
I played this game since like november 2016 and since RQ’s introduction, the primary role I thought was mine since I spent about 70% of my gametime on like DPS heroes is somewhat weird compared to its rating the matchmaker gave me out of it.
You see, until like GOATs seasons, I ranged from like low-gold to mid gold or so playing DPS or slightly off-tanks. When RQ was introduced, I feel like I got put into a horrendous matchmaker in solo queue on my primary role and I was brute force sent back below my all-time low SR and frankly I really do not even wanna queue into it. I’m literally losing games that shouldn’t be lost (e.g. getting a 40 kills or so game with like 10k+ damage and less than 6 deaths and still losing because someone had his moral high and went 1v6 at the end of the game).
But then I queue for Tanks, my secondary role originally, mostly for my off-tanks heroes. But then I started playing MTs a bit more and etc. and somehow, I’m almost plat and I could actually get it frankly if I cared.
And then, the third role, the one I put probably 1 to 3% of my full playtime, somehow is higher than even my primary role’s SR, to which I do not understand since I lack support skills imo.
My honest opinion on the matter is that, playing DPS currently as it stands on my personnal solo queuing experience has been the most awful I’ve had since I started playing the game. But my tanking experience has been increased by far far more than what I remotely expected. Altho I can careless about support role since I objectively know I’m not good at it.
The thing is, gold medals as dps only mean you are doing better than 1 of your dps and maybe 1 of your tanks. If the guys are lower ranked than you or you think you deserve to be in a higher rank than them, you should almost always be more consistent than the other players in your team.
For example, the dps Moira who feeds on the enemy backline or the rein who hard charges on 6 players will stay gold and eventually go against you, if they are really the problem, you’ll rank up just fine when they aren’t in your team. In gold you can’t really say it’s always your team’s fault you are in a 5-6 games losing steak. I’ve seen really good players go in 0-10 on GM, because many matches you can’t hard carry and the matchmaking will try to force you into unbalanced matches are there are few players (A top 10 may have to carry a full team of masters against GM sometimes, if the system can’t find other top 10 or top 50 players to put against him), but gold is the most popular rank and matches usually go the most balanced as possible besides smurfs and hard throwers.
