…let us opt out of certain maps or modes. That way, you (Blizzard), can see what maps or game modes you should improve to discourage us from leaving!
Until then, you’re going to have leavers. Fix the unpopular game modes and you’ll solve so many of your problems… and bringing back 6v6 since the entire game was originally balanced around it but. Different topic for a different time.
I, for one, would opt out of Push and Control on Steroids- I mean… Flashpoint… maps.
As someone who liked 2CP, I’d have preferred they gave everyone one avoid map option rather than just deleting a bunch of maps. That way you don’t have to deal with the 2CP, I still get it and can maybe opt out of Push instead.
Edit: I would add to this suggestion solo Q only, maybe duo’s but no more. I think big groups should have to play all modes, even if you all would have picked the same one to avoid. Group matchmaking is hard enough as it is.
Although I have seen people leave to dodge maps, I’ve seen many more people leave due to losing the first fight. People who leave on defense when the enemy has a large timebank for final point is a common one as well. I think these latter two groups are what the new penalties are aimed at.
Yes, but at the same time people leave-dodge maps that they do not like.
An easy way to fix this and remove leavers from those specific maps would be to allow us to avoid one or two types of games… or maybe 3 specific maps.
It’d be one way to remove the disadvantage and inconvenience that comes with people map dodging in the first place. Not the complete removal of leavers but- one of the more obvious things they should’ve added in Overwatch 1 but still haven’t yet.
No one’s claiming people only leave because of maps. But you’d have to have your head in the sand to not notice how often people leave those maps and how often it’s brought up as a point of contention in these threads.
We’ll have a leaver problem regardless because Blizzard hasn’t even put the barest minimum effort into solving the issues that cause people to leave.
My point is that the map dodgers weren’t near the problem that other leavers were. And dodging a map on occasion shouldn’t be an issue under the new system. There’s a lot of maps, so the one you dislike shouldn’t come up often enough for penalties to apply.
Unless you hate a lot of maps, in which case you probably need to stick to workshop. Or find another game. I don’t think a map select will ever be a part of this game.
People are already beginning to “dodge” the leaver penalty by trolling and feeding on purpose. It isn’t just playing poorly, there have already been comments about people just “vibing” in spawn or running around the map spraying the ground when they die or aren’t having fun to avoid the leaving penalty.
Leavers may become less of a problem, but the problem will still remain. This is simply one of those smaller solutions for a bigger problem- just in general letting us opt out of modes or maps we don’t find fun in the first place.
Haven’t seen any of that in my games so far. Just the usual amount of throwers and poor players. If people are doing that intentionally, I’m sure they’ll get a timeout soon enough from being reported. Or they’ll simply get tired of doing it. Intentionally torturing yourself like that has to get boring eventually.
It’s not meant to encourage you to stay, it’s meant to dissuade you from leaving.
No lol.
Game modes should be improved, but often even when they are they’re still despised fundamentally. And in the case of 2cp, even with improvements, it was removed because players just whined.
Push and FP (to a lesser extent honestly) do require improvements, as do the rest of the maps and modes we have, but even if they are players will still complain until they’re removed.
Allowing a carte blanche “opt out” system will make getting Push and FP maps much harder to play on, and as someone who does enjoy them I don’t want to see them go the way of my other favorite mode “2cp”. Forcing these maps to go Aztec in a sea of dust_ii isn’t the solution.
I have my own hypothetical middle ground option I’d like to see that benefits both sides of this situation, but the hypothetical carte blanche opt out isn’t going to cut it, sorry.
