TLDR on the directors take on 6v6

5v5 is the focus, and are looking to improve such. They are willing to test 6v6, but it’s clear that their isn’t a easy or known fix regarding technical and que time related issues.

Possibly open to allowing an additional 6v6 game mode, along side the normal que 5v5 ques. But most likely will not replace 5v5 as a whole.

5v5 with more balancing options is in the future.

We have already started the process of balancing and adjusting certain tanks. 1 or 2 more seasons it should even out.

6v6 is just too much noise and clutter - it wont be their main focus.

games stable, but also willing to try to give you what your looking for.

That’s the TLDR.

A whole bunch of repeating what they had said about the switch to 5v5 ages ago (none of that has changed) and no promises about the future of the game…

But in the mean time we can say the game will not be 6v6 any time soon…and even if it does in the far future it more than likely will not look the same based on him saying they’re going to be experimenting

Respect for them trying to appease the 6v6 crowd rather than tell them to pound sand

What are they gonna do? Quit?

Thank God they’re willing to include 6v6. Let’s hope they try to balance the mode a little as well, or it’s going to be MISERABLE with literal unkillable tank combos.

But it’s Blizzard… they’re probably going to just make 6v6 and tell us that’s not the mode they’re balancing for coughs in OQ

Which will make the mode unbearable to play, and people will then say, “see, 6v6 sucks!!”

Well it was never going to be the same, as the OW2 heroes kind of break a lot of 6v6 comps. And were made to fill in niches or act as counters to heroes that are stronger in the 5v5 format.

So any attempt to reenable the mode, will go down a rabbit hole of issues. Even the 6v6 fan run discord has like a 100 or changes for a somewhat stable experience. And that only works casually, as it’s still easy to break with ye old dive strats. As theirs nothing really their to keep that in check.

That and well new game modes like flash point or clash, are not the “best” of experiences in 6v6. As it’s way to easy to turtle on them.

I just played 6v6 code. Game is so slow. I could literally watch cat videos. While my tank who is a Sigma into Zarya.

I am like this is perfect.

Angry Puck Man is the last person I’m going to trust on this matter. I’ll read it myself.

Back in OW1, I played all of the experimental modes for OW2 and hated all of them. I kept getting told I need to wait for it to be actually balanced, and that’s a “rough draft”, yet here we are years later, people wanting 6v6 back. My opinion never changed. 6v6 was always superior. I miss my tank combos and more dynamic gameplay and less respawn simulator for all.

So they most likely will be doing a “general” sweep of changes. But their is way to many factors to really make it totally balanced, especially when like the counter balance tools against dive are no longer in the game.

But even with an once effort it’s not going to change the fact some issue will pop up, and their going to either not allocate resources to it or do. And in either case people will see it as “devs bad” because it broke, and that it’s going to need endless amounts of changes.

I’m hoping that 6v6 is such a competitor to 5v5 that they’re forced to looking into balancing both or reevaluating OW2 and resource allocation. Maybe a bigger team to support both better.

Eh that’s just spending more money without a new source of income.

Like you can argue this for a separate team to developed a PVE mode, as that will be a separate source of income.

But what you’re suggesting just going to be splitting the limited resources they already have down the middle. Slowing production of both.

All I keep seeing is that RQ killed the game. The MM was much better and the Q times were faster.

Even as someone who sees the debate as a dead end, we do need a 6v6 test. Then everyone can see for themselves the horrid queue times we had in OW1

I was thinking if it brings in a better influx of players and purchases kind of thing. Then it’s passively providing more income, making it more worth while having a team for. Highly unlikely, but ya boy can dream. :sob::joy:

will be interesting in what game mode gets played the most if side by side

5v5 role queue
or
6v6 role queue

when it becomes available i am for sure gonna do 6v6 role queue, yea queue times will be longer but i am wondering how they will handle the tank role? 2 tank raid bosses? or will they nerf the tank role a lot since 2 tanks (to what it was like in overwatch 1 i mean, less health of course)

… they never elaborated on that part. also will they get rid of passives

so many questions

were you actually expecting them to say “our bad guys we’re bringing back 6v6 and totally scrapping 5v5”
