Tired of 100% unbalanced SBMM

Then stop trying yourself and lose a few games?

Just a thought :woman_shrugging:

It’s funny you say that, because that’s actually not wrong. You can just exist through a few losses, get them out of the way and then ride the win streak. When you’re back in the totally-not-losers-queue-but-that’s-basically-what-it-is you exist for 3-5 games and then go back to winning.

This is how you could boost it up in the early OW2 seasons because QP MMR and Comp MMR were linked. So you could eat your losses in qp and then ride the winstreak in comp. It was beyond silly.

But yeah, even if you only play qp, just goof off for a few games and then you’re back on the winstreak.

what is sbmm? another way of saying fixed matchmaker?

Skill Based Matchmaking. And sort of. It’s essentially saying match people even in casual modes based on their skill level / MMR. It’s a hot topic in Call of Duty because it basically forces you to be sweaty every game in casual modes, because it’s pitting you against people who are your level or better.

Old multiplayer lobbies used to pretty much match you based on ping (if even that) and if it was noobs vs pros, you just take your beating. People miss that sort of don’t-have-to-try atmosphere.

Meanwhile, that’s basically your OW2 community. Not trying. Ever.

didnt the devs say that at times if you rise up in rank or win too much they’ll put you in lobbies with lower skilled teammates as too cary. i always wondered about that part. kind of weird

More or less, yes. Say you won 10 games in a row. You’re going to be placed on teams where the hidden MMR says overall your team is lower than the enemy team. If you win, you advance in rank. If you lose, you lose some MMR. If you lose games where you were favored to win, your MMR loss is greater. If you win games where you were favored to lose, your MMR gain is less, and vice versa.

Deal with it or stop playing, that are the the only 2 options you have. Blizzard wont change it, so complaining is useless (especially here on the forums where Blizzard doesn’t take a look at).

What do you mean? They’ve been “changing it” every season for the last (almost) year.

They told you they have done something. And here is your first mistake: You actually believed it.

No no, I believe they’ve tried something and have been successful in making it worse in most cases.

def feel that, I play with my friend quite alot so we get a few chill games and then after that, we have 3 anchors on the team running a straight line into a widow (wont even get started on widow, one of blizzard biggest mistakes of a character).

They want you to use these fake marketing terms because this way they can claim that they have changed or tweaked something without actually doing anything.

Nope, they never said that. Unless by “win too much” you mean win so much that you end up as the best player of the game in your region. Then it’s true, they said that. If your MMR is above the MMR of everyone else in the game, you will be put in a team with players who are worse than the enemy players so that the average MMR between the teams is equal.

Nothing radical there, though, it’s literally how averages work, so I don’t think that’s what you mean. Also this only affects like, idk, 50 people in the entire game? :woman_shrugging:

You know how many times in OW1 I had a match that was blatantly unbalanced. 1 time, where I as a plat tank got put in a GM match for some random reason.

Want to know how many times I get a skill disparity of that high in OW2? Literally every single ranked game. But sure, the MM is soooo much better. That’s why there was very little posts if any during OW1 on the matchmaker yet there are multiple a day with OW2…

… Which is why I went 5 wins 2 losses and got dropped a rank, yes.

It’s obviously not the same SR each time, or that would be literally impossible.
