So I’m pretty bad at Genji and the best blade I got was a 3k. I just don’t know how to use blade properly cuz whenever I dash up to get a bird’s eye view, I get disoriented (I’m on console), if I come from the back, I dash at one person and I die to a flurry of cc. And if I come from the front, the enemy supports ult instantly. What am I doing wrong?

Playing Genji on console.

Playing Genji in 2019.

Not playing Moira or Orisa.
Don’t use it to initiate fights or you’ll get focused.
Get a nano boost or you’re feeding
Swap to Doomfist [Aka Genji Upgraded]
Switch off Genji or you’re feeding lul
Ya pretty much have to luck out, their is so much stun based abilities in the game that its a coin flip that one of the enemy teamates do not have one up to use. Additionally other abilities such as immortality field pretty much ruin your day.
Id say pick one or two enemies and ensure they utilize their stun or other ability that just wrecks you and wait till they use it.
Same pretty much goes if your ana nanoes you but it might allow you to overlook one of the stuns your enemy has.
Here is a pro tip on how to blade with Genji:
But on a serious note, to be successful if you are playing Genji :
Don’t go for 4k, you only need 2 kills to win a fight if not 1, so use it on targets ot of position that won’t get saved by their team. Also make sure the enemy Zen or Lucio don’t have ults to counter you or a dead beforehand or hacked or just kill them and bait ult and wait for it to end or kill them and then blade.
If you’re gonna blade into a 6 man, ask for d.vas matrix and/or zarya bubble (calling out ults and communication is what it takes to be successful in team fights, i know it sucks on console though)
But most importantly, practice, not in qp or comp, but training grounds and custom games, practice turning 180, practice dashes, etc. Practice so you know exactly where you’re gonna end up after a dash…
Oh, and switch to PC
Have Genji go dragon blade and dash off a cliff.
I don’t like Genji. Genji thinks he counters everything in this game. He just doesn’t know when to switch off.
I also always get disoriented when playing him, the same goes for Doom btw maybe you also have bad orientation like me in general? It’s kinda cool hearing it from another person.
But I agree with the other comments, Genji is very bad atm and dragon blade is like a suicide button. You usually won’t get any kills and everyone will focus you. You can try to play Genji with Zarya and wait for her grav, so it gets easier for you to use the blade, other than that… idk man it’s just not Genji friendly anymore (which I‘m not sad about).
Coming from a 400h Gold-Plat Genji main. When you dash up, always keep a mental note of your enemy’s position, that way after killing one target you’ll know where to target next, because your next target won’t be too far from their last position. DO NOT TARGET TANKS FIRST, they will take away your precious time on your Dragonblade. Pull up your Dragonblade not on the beginning of a fight, but in a middle of a team fight when both team is engaged with each other that the enemy team is confused. IF you want to start a fight with your Dragonblade, make sure that your whole team follows up, either with Ana’s nanoboost, Lucio’s speed boost, Zarya’s bubble, etc.
If you get disoriented too much, it means that there’s something wrong about your sensitivity. I myself is a very hi sens Genji player but that’s the sens I’m comfortable with.
If you’d like more I have put up an in-depth Genji guide, you might be interested in taking a look at it. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/in-depth-genji-guide/326434
LASTLY, AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE: Practice and watch Genji streamers like Water, Cavalry, Necros, etc. I’m sure you’d pick up a lot of Genji tricks like how I did.
Good luck!
I’m too poor to get a pc lmao
Don’t worry I don’t play Genji in comp, I’m a reaper main and switching to Genji will cause my ears to be filled with angry Japanese screaming
Dont. You’ll save yourself a lot of pain not playing Genji
