Tips on how to Play Lifeweaver Correctly

I see many people here thinking that Lifeweaver is bad when this is far from the truth. While, he is far from being a meta hero, he is still viable in every rank. Here’s a few tips from a top500 support player.

  1. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO DAMAGE. This is by far the number one most important thing with this character. He has the worst dps in the game by far and is a heal bot support.

  2. Avoid 1v1’s at all cost. This obviously connects to tip number 1, so should go without saying, but the one hero that lifeweaver beats in 1v1’s is widow. If a widow is killing your team and you’re in a position to reach her, do so and eliminate her quickly.

  3. Stay near the back of your team. Lifeweaver has great range and doesn’t belong anywhere near the front line.

  4. Use platform to gain height advantage. Stay near the back and use your platform in order to see the playing field better. This allows you to heal each individual teammate more precisely and get good life grips as well.

  5. Be patient. Life grip is a powerful ability that can be wasted easily. Make sure the teammate absolutely needs to be pulled before committing.

  6. Place platforms in front of dps. Do not attempt to place it directly underneath their hero(unless it’s a high noon). Place it in front of the dps so they can see and use the platform correctly.

  7. Remember that lifeweavers ult blocks pathways and give a 150 burst of healing upon cast. You can use lifeweavers ult to gain needed cover in the middle of a fight. You can also use it for a burst of healing on low ally’s that would die without the burst.

  8. Don’t be afraid to switch. Like all hero’s, lifeweaver will not work every game. Don’t be afraid to switch if your dps aren’t able to get kills and need someone who can contribute more damage.

Let me know if I missed anything

You missed that you’re top500 on console. lol

Lots of pro or famous players like Yzn were top 500 on console, as someone who plays on both the game on PC is a bit faster and that’s it. Getting used to a new input system is the only real hurdle.
Bit weird caring about this sort of thing on a helpful thread.

Don’t.

Unbind Life Grip, so you don’t piss off your teammates, then hope they don’t have snipers to kill everyone you petal up.

People need to realize that he’s like mercy in the sense that his survivability comes from movement and repositioning frequently to avoid being dove. Obviously it’s not enough to be viable at higher ranks, but in anything below diamond or masters you’ll do just fine if you can just stay alive.

Press H button for corrections, don’t make it unreasonably harder for your team. Or get banned via spam reports, I think playing leaver is deranking

Very few people have made that transition. OST people derank two or three times while changing over.

The game isn’t even remotely similar, as someone who has played both.

A support with an auto-aim heal and projectile damage is a) going to be easier to use on console and b) harder to do damage with.

So there is a good reason for taking this into account.

However that aside, the OP points, for the most part, stand and are solid over all.

Lifeweaver life is hard if the enemy are playing dive tank, or the damage hero are playing fliers or Sombra.

No you won’t.

Mercy provides damage through damage boost.

Eventually , no matter how good a LW you are, if the enemy supports are doing damage their team will run you over. Maybe not at first but they’ll inch ahead fight after fight until they win.

Most supports in diamon and masters are good enough to know they should be doing damage.

Until LW contributes to damage in a meaningful way, using him is throwing.

I hate it more than you do. I promise you that.

I’m probably going to take a break until they fix him.

? Lots of people have made that move. When transitioning over to a new input system yeah people are intially lower than they were but most will then climb to their original rank. Case in point, me.

Not sure what you’re trying to say about auto aim supports

I’m not saying you can’t find more value, certainly easier value, on other heroes. But he isn’t so incredibly weak that he provides no value at all. He is playable at most ranks, you just have to work harder.

I do think he still needs work. Imo they should lean into his mobility and survivability over damage like mercy, and find some way to add other utility to his kit instead. It could be cool if they nerfed the tree a bit in duration/HP, added some utility like damage resistance, and buffed his ultimate charge so he has it up more often but it’s more of a quick save ability when his healing isn’t enough rather than a half a team fight ability.

I’ve bloomed on PC a few times. I usually hold my own in diamond, but I’d probably drop if I played consistently z I’m just not used to using a mouse and keyboard. Definitely a big change. It doesn’t help I have a super old and crappy PC

When you feel the need to drop “im top 500” as much as he has, it is worth calling that out.

lol, but to be fair, console rank is equivalent to 1 or 2 rank down on pc rank. Their game sense are still transferable, so they are still far better than the medal ranks on pc. PC mechanical aim aren’t consistent until like diamonds, with plat being the earliest sign of players with good mechanical skill showing up here and there?

Even as a gold player, my mechanical aim are pathetic.

With the way some people talk about LW I was honestly half expecting this guide to just be:

  • Press H
  • Pick another hero.
