Hey!
I hardly ever touch the damage role and to pump some life back into our nights, friends and I are swapping up our usual roles/picks/mains. It’s been fun! My goal is to not fully swap off the hero until I’ve gotten both of their achievements. So far, I’ve done Tracer, Mei, and Echo (kinda going through the OW2 cinematics to give me a hero path).
Next is Cassidy.
Now, I’m kinda a bad shot. I’m platinum/diamond but I favor projectile over hitscan. And if I DO have to hitscan, my go-to is always Soldier since he’s a little more consistent.
On top of this, I just haven’t played Cassidy since he was McCree. I could watch video tutorials, but I figured I’d ask here for tips to get decent at him quickly? Thinking positioning (poke vs engage, far range vs more medium vs in the fight), when to use ult, who to stick priority, map secrets, etc.
If they have a Reaper, save your hinder exclusively for the Prince of Darkness. Do not be afraid to fan the hammer as a follow up once you hinder them. People are still implying it is bad, but with the projectile changes it is about the most consistent as it has ever been. Remember that rolling reducing your damage, most ultimates do not kill you and using High Noon as a defensive tool is somehow a viable option. If Reaper somehow closes the distance despite all of that… Just click their head. Idk
I’m not the most well versed cass, but the key things I can think of are knowing some fundamentals.
-Rolling is a good way to avoid massive burst damage like a nuke/pulse bomb if you can time it properly (takes practice).
-Fanning the hammer doesn’t do crit damage so do bother aiming high. Instead aim low into the stomach so you can pound in as many bullets as possible for max damage. This is very useful against tanks when combined with a roll to reset your ammo, allowing you to dump 12 bullets in at once.
Mid Genjis will use deflect anticipating Magnet, rather than reactivly- so just give them a second before tossing it.
Mind that headshots save you only a single shot to kill a 250hp target (within range). Go for headshots ofc, but don’t let an elim get away because you were trying to overkill with a headshot when a body shot would have finished the job.
Learn how to time Roll with certain attacks, the damage reduction will let you survive a lot of things that would 1hko otherwise. (Notably Pulse Bomb).
FTH’s innaccuracy is a lot more limiting than its damage falloff. Go to the practice range and get a feel for how far you can reliably FTH all rounds in to different tanks.
