I finished all 5 of the other Junkenstein modes my very first try, and didn’t think they were too hard (I thought this years archives event missions were way tougher). But… shocking surprise I have done like 10 times and I can’t beat it lol.
Any tips for this? I’m solo with no friends so I was just wondering if anyone had some good strats. Like who are the best four characters to use? I know when bosses die they spawn tires, but it seems really hard to get everyone to work together to get a boss away from the door. The furthest I’ve gotten is when Junkenstein comes out.
Just run Soldier, Torb, Cree and either Ana or Zenyatta
Cree plays top left like always while Soldier, Torb and Ana/Zen guard the door.
Soldier has a VERY easy time taking out the tires with his Helix Rockets.
It doesn’t even matter if a Reaper or Hog dies close to the door - just shoot a rocket at their feat and one of the tires breaks instantly and one has minimal health left.
Don’t be scared to use Deadeye on bosses with Cree, but make sure that Soldier or Torb also have their ult ready to take care of the 2+ tires that will spawn.
As Torb just use your Molten Core to cover the area around the door so no tire can make it through and put your turret on the high ground close to the door for additional protection.
Ana is better off ulting the Soldier than the Cree.
If there are many Zombardiers and or a boss is about to die, give your Soldier the extra boost to make quick work of the tires.
As Zenyatta just make sure to discord the bosses/tires and before a boss dies charge your rightclick to help with the tires.
You could also run a Brig to knock back the tires and give your teammates more time to kill them and provide some extra sturdiness for the final fight with Rally, but I feel like Ana and Zen work much better.
I personally had very bad experiences with luring the bosses away - it always ended in chaos and people dying.
Then I told the Cree to simply use his Deadeye no matter what and just blew up the tires with Helix Rocket. Worked like a charm with 3 randos on my team.
McCree and Torb are mandatory and then any healer can work and any flex DPS as well (either hanzo or Soldier are probably ideal). Have McCree hold top left by himself (he really can) and high noon bosses while killing blue dudes and blowing up tires mostly solo. Torb can place his turret and help with mid and left and the flex DPS can assist and help kill bosses.
It took me 3 tries random queuing but that was only because I never got a Torb/McCree as another player. Just so long as you get both it is trivial (I did it as McCree because its funny to me to have 78% accuracy with 42% crit accuracy).
Have someone play Brig and lead the bosses away from the door with her. She’ll keep herself healed, everyone else gun down the bosses so the tires have to travel far to get to the door. Ez
You don’t need McCree. I’ve cleared it with Hanzo/Soldier/Torb/Zen.
Hanzo’s dragon is good crowd control for 1 line in emergency cases, Torb is torb, you always need him no matter what, Soldier can save you up here and there. Zen can be quite good if you know Junkenstein in your pocket (e.g. where bosses spawn, where tires turns, etc.)
Move bosses away from the door. This the hardest thing you must do since most people hard-glue themselves to the door in terrible situations.
Second option, when you’re about to kill the boss, have your team prepare for the incoming tires. I’ve cleared several tires literally like 2 inch away from the door with Dragon/Molten Core because of people unwillingly not moving off the door with the boss aggro’d on them.
Reminder this is expert, you don’t need crazy damage to overcome the bosses, even do McCree isn’t much a mandatory pick now that Baptiste exists in higher difficulty. Torb remains the crucial pick here.
You’re likely also better off having a premade team rather than randoms, I,ve had like 6 games with people off voice comms and not reading chat for tips, then they complain in chat that we’re losing while sticking at the door with like Reaper holding them hostage with 2 tires.
Thanks guys for all the tips. I feel like I also just suck with those heroes mentioned, so maybe that’s why lol. It’s just odd that the other 5 missions were so easy for me, this one is a toughie!
Brig, Soldier and Torb are mustpicks for the easiest victory. Visor and Core are ez tire killers and Brig’s boop 'n stun are invaluable along with her tanking kit for the boss to pull them from door.
The 4th, could be swapped either for Mccree or Ashe, High Noon is still good, but gotta make sure not to kill bosses too close to door. Ashe has a decent boop on a medium cd.
Good Luck. Took me 4 tries to do, definitely a challenge compared to others.
Btw: Bombardiers spawn 1 tire, and bosses spawn 2. Keep that in mind during the challenge.
I had Zen, Brig, Torb, and Soldier when I won. Brig does nice easy healing and damage, and has good CC for the tires and bosses. Discord and harmony are also easy and great damage overall, especially the right clicks for tires. Torb is self-explanatory. Soldier’s ult and rockets are great for tires.
You can try luring bosses away but most of my teammates didn’t do it. But I’m pretty sure if a boss dies on Torb’s ult, the tires near instantly die and don’t have a chance to move.
Just out of curiosity, who do you guys think is actually the “hardest” team to win this mode on? Like if you wanted the toughest challenge?
NOTE: Guys I just beat it, whoo hoo!!!
I had: Soldier / Mccree / Torb / Bridgette. It really helped with Bridgette taking the lead and getting most of the bosses away from the door, then I just helix rocketed the double tires. Not too bad!
Like everyone else said, 76/Torb are basically required. My (solo queue) group cleared with Baptiste/76/Torb/Zen.
Baptiste is budget 76 in this mode since there isn’t much healing required, so he can park on the sniper perch above the door and just shoot everything from (nearly) complete safety.
This particular mode is less about the heroes that you choose, and more about strategy and communication with the rest of your team.
Tires do a TON of damage to the door, so you Have. To. Get. Them. All. with the whole team prioritizing them over bosses and other enemies. When our team was verbally calling out each tire AND where they were about to kill a blue, that not only helped kill them but also prevented us from killing additional blues at the same time. We barely take any door damage at all.
I see that you are solo queuing. So, perhaps try hopping on your mic, suggest at the start of the game what you want the team to do, picking Zen, camping out on the right platform, and Discording and calling out every tire you see. Make sure you kill bosses away from the door, of course.
Also, as the days go by, I’m sure your random teammates will be more and more likely to know what they are doing, so don’t give up. Good Luck!
My best advice is to run
Torb, zen, ashe, soldier
You don’t want McCree because his ult just summons a ton of tires at once
you want ashe because her tnt can deal with grouped tires and your shotgun can push enemies and tires away from the gate
I won with Zen, Torb, McCree and Soldier. Zen is really good at killing the tires if you play aggressive.
Discord the big omnics -> charge your right click -> wait for turret to kill them -> shoot when the tire spawns
