Tips for Rein 1v1?

I’m talking about the custom game.

Any tips on beating another Reinhardt in 1v1 arena? Some guys there seem to allways win and I don’t understand, it’s like they know the future.

Rein V Rein 1v1 is a more interesting competitive setting than OWL

Uhhh…well there is always the earthshatter fakeout you can do,

hold your shield, swing, and before the swing finishes instantly cancel it with shield, that trick works even in normal game , you can trick some oponents that way,

you can also approach in the window that your swing is about to finish but the hitbox is still carrying to get that sweet double hit and get the swinging advantage.

aim firestrike well, and sometimes you can do a sudden point blank charge by jumping back (to give you some distance) and charging to try to catch the oponent off guard

Wait? One swing can connect twice???

Also I thought shatter didn’t cancel swing no more

i mean cancel swing with shield to bait the enemy shatter.

they will think you are vulnerable and use it and get blocked

No, but if you approach just as you are finishing your first swing, you will get a hit and be able to swing again faster than they will start their first swing, plus you already got one hit in while they havent gotten any

I dont know the game mode you are talking about but typically the first to land a charge has an advantage

Now I can start my own rein v rein Esports league…

this is a torb 1v1 hammer on the next level

  • if the enemy rain has shatter put your shield down for them to think you are going to fire strike and they will shatter. instead of you fire striking you gonna put the shield up eventually blocking his shatter
  • track his fire strike cooldown. its important to know whether he going to bluff you into using shatter and he will block it instead
  • if you are close enough you can charge him and he will not have time to shatter even if he presses the button
  • you can shoot firestrike faster when using your primary. press the button when the hammer is in the middle oftyour screen when swinging.

Does a dedicated torb 1v1 server exist?

Also try doomfist sumo, that one is good.

Your best bet is baiting enemy rein’s fire strike and then come close.
Try swinging a bit and then use charge either if you feel like there’s a good chance or if enemy rein charge at you.
After a charge you have a small window to use fire strike with more hit chances because of the range.
Remember you can animation cancel by swinging your hammer and then immediately follow with a fire strike.

If you got your ult you can always just use charge+earth shatter for maximum hit potential.

  1. Fake/Cancelled Hammer swings are your best friend in a Rein 1V1. Mainly in order to bait out the enemy Rein’s Shatter as others have also suggested (you’ll probably notice when and if the enemy Rein has their ULT, as they’ll most probably become less aggressive and mobile before pressing Q).
  2. If the enemy Rein somehow plays defensively with his shield up, don’t forget to inflict as much damage as possible to him with your Hammer.
  3. Don’t forget do cancel your Hammer with Firestrike as much as possible! For an easy 175DPS (I think).
  4. Shield - Jumping is your favorite friend when you’re trying to run away from the enemy if you’re low in health.
  5. Be extremely alert and ready to counter the enemy’s Pin with your Pin. Never Pin the enemy Reinhardt first, unless you’re in their face it you’re 100% you won’t miss, because if you do, you’re almost always dead.

You can bait shatter against a decent rein by using firestrike, waiting six seconds and the dropping shield, swinging and immediately reshielding. If the rein was tracking cooldowns then they will probably see this as an opportunity and shatter directly into your shield

Block the shatter.
