Alright hey guys,
So I’m a support player, usually around high plat, but have been hitting diamond since role queue came out. The other day I was feeling pretty good about myself and climbed up to 3300, where I was doing a pretty good job at maintaining the rank. Over the past day or two now I’m about 2-13~ w/l wise.
Anyone have advice for support in game? I’m pretty much a moira main, but I play other heroes when I need to switch. How do you guys usually manage your cool downs, ults, and just manage your team heals? I’m kind of getting discouraged, but still trying to finally get a win. But some games I feel like I’m weighing the team down.
Any support players have any tips on how to better play the role? Would be appreciated
A big issue i see with a lot of supports: They’re afraid to use their ults.
Aside from the defensive ults, it’s okay to be the first person to press Q and give your team that extra little nudge to initiate hard (with something like rally/coal/nano)
I will offer some advice about the game itself that I think would be more helpful than support playing advice
The key to comp is to understand that losing streaks are definitely going to happen, 100% guaranteed because they are built into the matchmaking of this game
With this in mind, they key is to stop playing early, as soon as you see the streak starting. For me this means usually if i lose 2 in a row and definitely 3 i’m done I close the game
Losing streaks rarely if ever turn around so it’s not worth it. At least wait a few hours before trying again
Another key to climbing is that winning streaks also happen but they are extremely rare and you must take advantage of them when they appear
I was able to climb from around 3000 sr to 3450 in basically 2 really long sessions, because the streak was going and i was winning like 8 out of every 10 games
So basically, my system is to stop playing if losing, but play nonstop like crazy when winning. This way your sr will never drop dramatically but it will rise dramatically its all about timing
Hope it helps you out at the least it should allow you to maintain wherever you are now
Yeah, what I typically try to do is orb then ult my team to initiate a fight to keep my team topped off and then help with some dpsing after healing is taken care of.
